Today became annoying very, very quickly. All of it work stuff, and most of it is not typical for my job. But still, by mid-afternoon I was lamenting the fact that I didn't have a flask at my desk, and I wanted to try to set people on fire with my brain again.

But I am DETERMINED that the rest of this week will be better, dammit. Somehow. And that I'm going to finish writing this next GCS article tonight, and work on the fiction project for the rest of the week. SO I DECREE.

Today is a day I would dearly love the ability to set people on fire with the power of my brain.

Today was not great. Tired, super-busy at work, general crankiness, and becoming dissatisfied with what I was wearing (thus causing the Body Image Demons to reunite for a reunion tour, ugh).

This morning, when coffee was my only friend:

Later this afternoon, when it became obvious that the day wasn't going to get any better:

(Oh look, UD's 24/7 eyeliner smudges on me. Hmmph, I am unimpressed.)

But now I'm home, I had tasty food that the Stroppy One made, I have gotten through a stressful phone call, and now I'm going to relax by reading fic. And then maybe an early bath. Tomorrow WILL be better. If for no other reason than there will be cupcakes at one of the meetings I'm scheduled for.

This week has been a mite stressful, what with a horrible migraine (taken care of by a trip to my chiropractor, thank goodness), and work hijinks. But hey! Three-day weekend, so maybe I can catch up on my sleep and get writing done!

Crankyface, but wearing the super-cute handpainted Dave Vanian necklace that thegothicalice made for me. Also, please note the fantastic lipstick; Inglot is my new favorite cosmetic company.

I really, really should have been wearing crankybloomers under all that today, because today is just ... grr. And for no reason! (Well, other than being tired, it being the very end of my period (which always plays hell with my mood), and the fact that a very unhappy anniversary is imminent.)

Bah. Grumpy. Tonight, I prep a GCS post to go up tomorrow, spend 30 minutes on the exercise bike, and try on some outfits to check that thinks work together in real life, not just in my head.

Please dear spirits above and below, let me be in a better mood tomorrow.

I'm tired, and I probably should have donned crankybloomers under my skirts so I would know I was properly labeled. So! In an attempt to change my mood, I am going to list some good things!

- Just had a really good talk with my new PM at work about our plans for taking over our corner of the world.

- I've been getting back in the exercise habit (walks or exercise bike).

- I'm helping the Infamous BlueJay with some interesting planning. Heh, heh, heh.

- There's a really fantastic thing happening this weekend, and OMG, I am looking forward to it. (No context for you, sorry.)

- I have a fresh pot of Imperial Breakfast tea sitting in front of me.

What good things, large or small, are going on in your world?

(This message brought to you by the "Oh crap, I went over budget buying Halloween goodies, didn't I?" realization.)

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and said hi at yesterday's Mourning Market! It was great seeing folks.

I still have Cranky!Bloomers, blood spattered tea cups, and book roses, and will be posting all of them for sale in the next few days. As soon as I stop feeling exhausted and like I've been strung up on a rack and beaten with sticks, that is.

Today is Ray Bradbury's 91st birthday. Happy birthday to one of my favorite authors! My signed copy of Something Wicked This Way Comes is one of my most beloved books. Yes, I got to meet Mr. Bradbury over a decade ago, when he was at a DragonCon. He kindly signed my book, and even more kindly consented to having a photo taken with Clovis Devilbunny. (I need to dig that photo out and have the Stroppy One scan it for me.) In celebration, I think I am going to re-read From Dust Returned today.
Cranky!Bloomers for sale!

Here they are, the Cranky!Bloomers. Made from new scrub pants, trimmed with vintage lace, and adorned with hand-embroidered patches proclaiming your cranky state. (Hand-embroidered while watching silly vampire movies, for that extra gothy-goth touch!)

$40 plus $10.95 shipping in the USA = $50.95. If you are outside of the USA and want a pair, we'll figure out shipping costs.

Sizes available:

Medium - 1 pair
Large -1 pair

If you are interested in a pair, leave a comment!

The Time Travelers' Rummage Sale went very well. Thank you to everyone who came out, and extra thanks to everyone who purchased something from me! The Bags of Mystery! sold out in under 2 hours, and there were people who were very sad that they had missed them.

I still have pairs of Cranky!Bloomers left. I will take pictures and note sizes, and probably post that information tomorrow.

---

Extra-special, "Oh my GOODNESS!" astonished thanks go to the Kelsay family, who surprised me with a present! They decided I needed the Beetlejuice jewelry box by ravenofskys on Etsy. I am delighted and touched by the gift, and am going to probably store my skull cameos in it. It's so cute!

Ooof. The thing about having a collection of long-term health issues that I apparently still haven't gotten used to is how much easier it is for me to be worn out. (If you listen closely, you can hear [livejournal.com profile] maiaarts and [livejournal.com profile] staxxy muttering "WE TOLD YOU!" at me.) I bailed on the StuntHusband and our plans to go dancing last night, and instead flopped on the couch watching Moulin Rouge and doing some hand sewing that wasn't working on Cranky!Bloomers.

Today, I am still feeling wiped out. Not fair! I have stuff I need to do! But apparently the more strenuous of that stuff is going to have to wait a day or so, until my energy comes back and my body stops aching. But I do have enough energy to call Victor and schedule an appointment to get a new set of fangs made*, so that's good.

*Yes, I'm getting new fang caps. That is one of the things I promised myself with any profits from the sale. New fangs, and then to decide if I put money toward a tattoo, or toward the Fluevog Mini Zazas (clicky-link!). Decisions, decisions.

Good: no migraine making me think longingly of drilling holes in my skull!

Bad: hello, hormonally-triggered cranky/rage/no brain! Kindly go away!

Random thought from when I was getting ready this morning: You know what I need to make? An ElderGoth-themed shadowbox. It would contain:

- a small can of Aqua-Net (the olde skool kind, not the new-fangled redesigned can).
- an empty pack of clove cigarettes.
- a black eyeliner pencil. (EDIT! A stub of one, actually. [livejournal.com profile] staxxy is right.)
- a heaped pile of rosary beads (preferably black).
- a silver ankh.
- skull beads.
- pieces of lace and fishnet.
- dried roses.
- and maybe miniature versions of the album covers of Bela Lugosi's Dead, Staring At The Sea, Juju, Phantasmagoria, and Floodland.
SOLD TO [livejournal.com profile] ms_tate! Yes, I will eventually be making more Cranky Bloomers, I promise.

Here is the last pair of Cranky Bloomers I have for sale at the moment:

Size L (max waist/hip measurement of about 32"). They're a shorter pair, and are about 15.5" long. Black and red pinstripe, black lace trim, and with "Cranky" hand-embroidered on the back. $35 + postage!
Thank you very much to everyone who said nice things about the photo of me in my around-the-house clothing! Why yes, every time the dratted Body Image Monsters start muttering at me, I'm going to go back and read what all of you said. Thank you very, very much.

Yesterday turned out to be amazingly productive for me. I did laundry, made chili in the crockpot, got some GCS writing done, and embroidered a pair of bloomers that I'm going to be selling at next month's Mourning Market:

Cranky!Bloomers I embroidered Cranky!Bloomers I embroidered

In addition, something in my head went ::DING!:: at around 1AM, and I wrote down a HUGE amount of notes and ideas for the fiction project I'm working on. Mind you, I haven't looked at those notes yet today, but I'm pretty sure the ideas I came up with were good ones, and not strange scribbling. I hope.
