Good: no migraine making me think longingly of drilling holes in my skull!

Bad: hello, hormonally-triggered cranky/rage/no brain! Kindly go away!

Random thought from when I was getting ready this morning: You know what I need to make? An ElderGoth-themed shadowbox. It would contain:

- a small can of Aqua-Net (the olde skool kind, not the new-fangled redesigned can).
- an empty pack of clove cigarettes.
- a black eyeliner pencil. (EDIT! A stub of one, actually. [livejournal.com profile] staxxy is right.)
- a heaped pile of rosary beads (preferably black).
- a silver ankh.
- skull beads.
- pieces of lace and fishnet.
- dried roses.
- and maybe miniature versions of the album covers of Bela Lugosi's Dead, Staring At The Sea, Juju, Phantasmagoria, and Floodland.

minor correction:

-a black eyeliner pencil *stub* (if you do make this box, I can donate this to the cause, I am sure)

No little rubber vampire bat to place inside?

Glow in the dark rosaries would be acceptable also.

Oooh, good point, a little rubber bat is absolutely needed.

I still have my glow in the dark rosary. It's on my motorcycle jacket. :)

Where's the little black notebook filled with angsty poetry of woe? (Woetry?)

if it were mine, I'd say the Ankh would come from the first Vampire: The Masquerade LARP box, alongside a crumpled character sheet. XD

Pack? TIN. Red metal tin of Djarums. Wonder if you can still find the tins anywhere.

I haven't seen the tins in so very long. I do have an empty pack though. I keep hoping for a miracle to make it new again.

That is a killer idea. Maybe I should make one too...

And I love the term ElderGoth...so much better than, "Old Fogey-Goth":)

Fantastic idea...I would substitute the rosary beads for a old style gothic cross. As a former Catholic here I have issuse about rosaries, they signify prayer to me. I don't associate them with "goth" imagery for myself, but I don't find it offensive if others use it.

The cassette idea is wonderful, I think I still have a huge old box of them....hmmm maybe your idea might spark my creative streak.

Seriously this could be a wonderful Gothic Charm School "Craft Section" idea:0

I had a friend that did something similar in an old apothecary jar. It was lovely.

I love this idea, J! What a great project. Maybe we should have shadowbox making night? I have one I need to finish from like, 2 years ago. Gothbox ftw!

Also, I probably have everything on that list except for the Aqua Net. I was really a Rave #4 guy, myself. :)

This sounds like the perfect use for a pile of old cassettes I need to get rid of. Right now I have them in a wall rack as a sort of memorial to the 80s.

Good bog, I have almost all of this hanging about my house. Minus the Aquanet gold can. But do you know how often that comes up in wistful conversation?

Wow, this made me nostalgic for my college years.

I am a little concerned that I can see all of these items - save the hairspray - if I simply turn my head to the left.

Other items on my dresser are peacock feathers and beeswax candles....and the lighter I have to go with my djarum is rose scented! Possibly patchouli or lily scented is a marketing opportunity missed!
