I want to Do Stuff to my hair. Specifically, I want to eventually have primarily cupcake pink hair with black bangs and streaks. What I can't figure out is: is this just my every-three-months-or-so urge to change my hair, or is it my "I'm stressed out about stuff ooh I coud do something to my hair color!" reaction?
Either way, if I do end up doing this, there is going to be RESEARCH involved. I've been coloring the black parts of my hair with demi-perm (Wella ColorCharm) for over a year now, and that should be easier to lift/remove than the old classic of N1 permanent color, right?
Also, if I end up doing this, I would somehow convince myself to be patient (I can hear the Stroppy One laughing at that statement) and let my natural color grow out for a while. ::shudder::

The pink in my icon is AP over yellow roots and brassy orange at the bottom from getting rid of the black. It was a deeper pink than I wanted, but (at least to me) a lot closer than having pink roots with black everywhere else. Are you open to going with a deeper pink where the black is now if you remove the demi? I think a darker pink, lighter pink and black color scheme could work out marvelously with your style and your wardrobe. ;)

You strip the color, wait a week with deep conditioning (hats and wigs ahoy!), bleach it if needed, and dye away. Works like a charm.
The fact that it's not real hardcore black n1 will make things so much easier. You might get away with just stripping the black, depending on what the hair was prior to the black.

I would say try growing in out some more and use a less than "demi" color. I know these will not give you the true black you have now but they can deepen you natural color to the point that you don't run screaming for the stronger hair dye.
I made a huge (for me) color change when I turned 45. I actually went back to my natural color. It was shocking and strange to me, but I had to admit that it looked much better....not that I am advocating "natural" color, not at all.
I miss my colored hair but health issues and *age* made the color look less than flattering.
Whatever you decide, good luck. You always look lovely:)

I think that the delicate side streaks that you have done are relatively safe for your clothing and hats. But on the long term, with all pink and a little black - even your sheets would get stained. Hell, eventually every single thing in your house would get slightly pink, which is tough for reselling.
So....wigs? Real professional human hair extensions done by a professional?
