Why don't I own the DVD collections of the original Dark Shadows shows? They're such delightfully overwrought goth silliness. Dear Netflix on Demand, thank you for making a season of them available. (The *proper* starting season, where Barnabas is resurrected.)

That is a great show. I have a calendar that lists many of the on-film mistakes that they aired because they were too poor to re-shoot...doors falling down and people accidentally calling someone by their real name instead of character name, etc. It's a fun read!

the remake of the show from the 80s was pretty bombastic but not horrible.

1991. And it was pretty horrible, except for Lysette Anthony as Angelique. (Then again, I'm a bit biased, because I sat at a blackjack table with her at Anglicon and watched her get drunk, and she dished about how lazy the production values were and how much she hated Ben Cross.)

...I really wish my ability to remember stuff like this had any practical use.

I will now date myself. Saw it when it first came out. I remember rushing home to get the next fix, er, episode. :D It is good fun, and I'm glad others can now share the addiction.

I too am old! I loved that show as a kid. I wonder if it will loose the magic if I watch it as an adult...
