When the Stroppy One asked if I wanted to get coffee this morning, at first I said no, I'll have a pot of tea at work. But as I was standing in front of the mirror applying my eyeliner, I realized that coffee was very desperately needed. Dear Lighthouse Coffee, I less-than-three you. Mmmm, double-tall Americano.

---

I am still working up to writing a review of the Tim Burton Alice In Wonderland. The very short form is this: it's very pretty. But the farther away I get from the viewing experience, the more dissatisfied with it I become. I am NOT planning on purchasing it when it is released for the home market. I will purchase the big art book instead, which will let me look at the pretty as much as I want without having to grit my teeth at the "plot".

---

As the Goth At The Office photo (coming later) will show, I am indeed wearing yet another military-style jacket. And my pink fingerless gloves with GOTH CAKE embroidered on them. They make me happy, and I suspect today is a day I am going to need all of the little amusements I can get.

---

Speaking of little amusements, my Keep Calm And Have A Cupcake (clicky-link!) journal arrived in the mail yesterday. I don't know what I'm going to use it for, but I had to have it. (I also really like the matching stationery (clicky-link!), but I am still dithering about ordering it.)

---

I hope you folks are having a good day. Anything exciting going on?

Thank you so much for that link to the journal!

I find it interesting that I just made an icon of something similar for a friend (with a teapot instead of a cupcake or crown) and that this (http://community.livejournal.com/literarytattoos/760814.html) showed up on my friends page today.

Well, nothing too exciting but I did find some inspiration inyour photos when I had to throw together an outfit for my two Alice film premiere parties. (looking forward to reading your views on it)

Here are two pics- I don't sew and I only had a few days to come up with it, but you were an inspiration.

Too bad you can't see the petticoat, its lovely!!

And the second one I had a little mini top hat and lovely pink velvet skirt!

Thank you

Yaaay for cute things making you all happy at the office!

It does look like a rather pretty movie . . . I think I must go see it This weekend . . . if I get my pay deposited on time. I hope so. I might even dress up.

Dither no more, pretty stationary is always a good idea to write letters on. I vote get it!

As for interesting things happening in my life right now . . I am having the husband is making ribs for dinner! The snow is melting! (I hate being overly cold), the washing machine got replaced with one that works, and . . . I might have tea later!

I just discovered your journal and am now looking forward to clicking through all the photos of your absolutely beautiful clothes. Wohooo!

And I know exactly what you mean with the Alice in Wonderland film. It was a feast for the eyes, but the plot was so...disney. "And now we all have learned something" indeed.
The art book is a good idea, I hope it will be available in Germany.

I thought it was a cute but shallow movie, but very, very pretty.

Egh. The movie. I want to see it, I really do. But I'm not looking forward to having to brace myself in preparation of being irritated by the plot "adjustments". I hope it wasn't too painful.

Yes, I'm looking forward to procuring the art book myself.

Heya Jilli - I've sent you a couple of emails about "IN A GILDED LIGHT" with no response at all. I'm starting to think that your gmail hates me. Thought, I would ping you here and see what's up. Would you email me, please?

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Huh, I haven't seen the emails at all! Yes, I will email.

Drive by comment :-D

The movie plot is based on a young adult book called "The Looking Glass Wars" and not on Alice in Wonderland itself.

wow! omg you're in the UK! where abouts? I wonder if she's going to be coming round here (I'm in Liverpool).
Was she promoting a new book? I have all the Vampire Mysteries books, but I didn't think the next one was out until May?

She was promoting the new cover books. I re-bought my fav one and took in my hardback copy. I'd check the waterstones website as they're advertising them all atm. (I will be seeing Joe Hill there next wendsday)

I finished a skirt last night. It's green and flouncy, or at least as flouncy as I get for my office attire. Still struggling to find the balance between 'conservative corporate law firm' look and 'creative, artistic free spirit' look. Photos over on my blog by the weekend, if all goes according to plan.
I like your military-style jackets. I just gave one away to a friend. I had bought it in an op-shop even though it was too small for me (as in I can put it on but not button it). She happens ot be a similar size as the jacket, and since I hardly wore it last winter I thought it should go live with her for this winter (we are in Oz so Autumn is just creeping up on us now). Now I hope the op-shop fairies deliver to me a military style jacket in my size for winter 2010.

I had a cup of coffee for the first time in years today and I think I love you, coffee! It saved my morning.
I've been learning how to drive a manual transmission car (!!) the last few weeks & I am proud to say I hit the highway for the first time in the car and didn't kill a soul! (May have scared a few folks though)
