I am thinking of selling off the infamous vintage bat shoes.

You know, the ones I've been searching for for years and years and years, and that every time I find a pair of them, they are TOO SMALL.

The ones that are currently in my possession are a size 7. Which will not fit me, ever. (Unless maybe I cut off all of my toes, which even *I* think would be going a little too far into CrazyTown.)

What have I been doing with these glorious size 7 bat shoes? Occasionally taking them out of the shoe cabinet, sighing wistfully, attempting to cram my feet into them, pouting, and then putting them back into the shoe cabinet. Rumors of my waving them in the air and demanding that The Powers That Be cause a pair of them in a size 8 to magically appear before me are completely unfounded. No truth to those rumors whatsoever. I swear.

Anyway, yeah. I'm seriously thinking of selling off the bat shoes. Maybe The Powers That Be will be so pleased with my letting the bat shoes find their True Home, that THEN a pair of them (in size 8) will magically appear the next time I go thrift shopping. (What? It totally could happen like that.)

I just looked at those and said to my live-in best friend, "How cute!! I hope she's selling them!! I WANT THEM!" And lo and behold, I am a size eight as well. What brand are they? Maybe I can use my Google-fu to find them in our size!

They are by Prima Royale, and were made in ... oh, around 1988. I HAD a pair of them then, and wore them to death. I will keep my fingers crossed that your Google-fu is stronger than mine! ;-)

Aww...I hate when that happens. I have that problem with shoes, too. (Like with the adorable Invader Zim shoes I see at Hot Topic everytime I go, but they're NEVER IN MY SIZE, DANGIT!) It's usually because my feet are too small, and all the shoes I want are too big. (I wear a size five-and-a-half/six, depnending on the shoe brand. XP) So, I feel your pain. D:

*gives lots and lots of hugs*

Also, this is my first time commenting in your journal, so I'll introduce myself. I'm Rini! ^____^

I have tiny feet, too (6-6.5). I can even wear kid's shoes...

If you truly get desperate, you can take that pic to the shoestore downtown and have them custom make you a pair. Maybe in cupcake pink and black?

I am actually lucky enough to have a custom-made pair of shoes, that are very Victorian-looking with bats on them, that The Stroppy One designed and had made for me a few Christmases ago. I love them beyond all reason. But I still want a pair of the vintage bat shoes in my size.

You should sell them and then there will be a bat shoe shaped hole in your wardrobe that will need filling, and nature abhors a vacuum.

I've never seen bat shoes before..........
It looks wonderful.

If/when you decide to sell them, how much would you want for them?
My friend is a bat researcher and she would love these shoes!

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

I've never found a pair in my size on eBay, no matter how much I've looked. But thank you for searching!

Please

Let me get a tracing of the bat - I think it would be MUCH easier to paint on your shoes than the other bats...

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Re: Please

Oh, absolutely! Those bats would be easier.

I remember when I had my original pair of those shoes, and you kept lamenting that our feet weren't the same size. ;-)

Re: Please

yes I have been drooling over them for years and years

Re: Please

Also, when I see you next time, I need to look at your skelly Docs again. Because they are at the top of of my spending money list, once I'm out of Fluevog debt. ;-D

BTW... when do you want the fabric? Did you see the new fabric I'm using?

From: [identity profile] mskat.livejournal.com

Did I tell you, Jilli, that I saw the fluevog boots you want out in the wild and on actual feet? We were at the Terminal Ferry in SF and someone was wearing them. Of course I thought of you.

I'm a size 7 (give or take) and would offer to buy them, but if I did, I'd never peel my husband off me ...

Those shoes are absolutely amazing!
They would be really awesome in red and black as well. :)

Vintage = classic!

Sell them. The cargo cult plan isn't working this time, you need to let them be free to find their true home. You can't expect someone to let go of a pair in your size if you don't let go of this pair in someone else's size. Do it. You'll feel better without them there to mock you.

From: [identity profile] typsy-gypsy.livejournal.com

I believe that if you let those size 7's go, you will
be blessed with size 8's. I DO. *squeezes eyes shut*

Sell them they are just frustrating you and the proceeds will go to the very good cause of paying for the Fluevogs. :)

I feel your pain. I have much bigger feet than you and practically every time I see shoes I like, they don't make them up to my size.

Also I can't seem to get it into shoe manufacturers' heads that not everyone with long feet has broad feet, it is so frustrating to finally find something in my size and then realise it fits my foot about as well as a canal boat. This is why I always wear lace ups or Mary Jane style with straps even though I would love pretty ballet pump styles.

Are the motifs painted or glued? It would be relatively simple to cut out black leather bats and glue them to a similar style shoe. Painting might be a tad more tricky depending on the shoe surface. Its not exactly the same, but it might console your heart a little until a real vintage pair of bat shoes in your size comes winging home to you.

Either sell them, or decide they are not shoes but sculpture and find a way to display them as part of your decor. They are too pretty to live in the darkness at the bottom of a wardrobe.

You have inspired me. I am currently designing a print to go on a pair of Keds slip ons. It features a heart with lots of little bats on and the words "Proud to be a chiropteraphile" (that means bat lover).
Canvas shoes are probably not your style but I'm hoping someone will love them. I've done this with a t shirt before but hadn't thought of shoes so Thank you.

They should be in my Zazzle shop in a couple of days so long as Keds approve the design.

This is how they came out like.

Can you bring them to a cobbler and get them stretched?

From: [identity profile] ms-tate.livejournal.com

I feel your frustration. Sending powerful ~ma into the universe that shoes like this will appear in size 8.

From: [identity profile] staxxy.livejournal.com

You currently wear a size 7.5, because your feet shrank. I somehow doubt you will get your wee feet any more wee.

From the replies here, perhaps you can auction them off in your lj, as they seem to be coveted mightily.

My son the Resident Giant declares that when he has completed his plan for global domination and is a famous and fabulously rich, actor, director, and scriptwriter, he will use some of his illgotten gains to set you up as the headmistress of an actual, physical Gothic Charm School, preferably located in a ruined castle.

Man, I went up two sizes after I had my daughter. I kept most of my old clothes, labouring under the delusion that one day I would stuff myself back into them. I did the same thing - pulled out a skirt or a pair of trousers only to find that no, I did not magically lose 15 lbs. overnight. I'm slowly rebuilding my wardrobe for the more zaftig me, but it's hard saying good-bye to all those lovely things...

Good luck finding a home for the shoes, they will make some lucky person very happy.

From: [identity profile] evillilys.livejournal.com

LOVE them! You really must sell them. I happen to have the perfect foot to fill them.

From: [identity profile] sinicallytwsted.livejournal.com

Awww Cute shoes! Sorry they don't fit you but I will keep an eye out for a size 8 for ya! ;0)

I have a cunning plan that ties in to me talking with JF shoes.
Take tons of photos of these.
I will be sending you a email shortly I think this cunning plan will work.
Also getting Tom to give a call to Jeff about you getting your coffen bag this monday.

From: [identity profile] moraiwe.livejournal.com

AH! I'm a size 7! I would totally wear those! I know the pain of finding shoes not-in-your-size. It's quite a sh*tter. :(
