A co-worker just asked me if I knew what the best "haunted house" -type events or attractions were in the Seattle area. I told him I had no idea, but I'd ask some friends for recommendations. Help me, LJ hivemind! I have no idea what groups even host haunted house attractions anymore.

In other news, please remind me that I cannot deal with 3" heels for long stretches, no matter how pretty or gothy the boots may be, so I should just stop looking at the Fluevog site RIGHT NOW.

(Yes, I periodically visit the Fluevog site and sigh wistfully over the Countess Olivia and Dame Agnes boots. (clicky-links!) I know they'd kill my feet. But gracious, they're pretty.)

In other other news, hey, who else is going to Bats Day in November? Because we're going! Yes, the combination of it being in November (instead of August) and it being right before my 40th birthday means that we're going. Direct some sympathy toward [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage, because he's not a huge fan of theme parks and really didn't want to go to one again for a couple of years. But he loves me, and knows that I've wanted to go to Bats Day for aaaaaages.

I want to go to bats day so bad. Are you two able to make it to my birthday dinner this sat?

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Sadly, we are not. I'm going to be deep in revisions. I'm hoping to get enough done to be able to sneak off and go dancing, but that's about it. I hope your dinner is wonderful!

I'd like to go to Bats Day, but probably shall not.

From: [identity profile] lunakitten.livejournal.com

You'll be out here :) I plan on going to at least the Black Market, and I'd love to finally get to meet you!

From: [identity profile] girlgoth.livejournal.com

Hooray!

We'll be at Bats Day!

I'm vending on Saturday, and then we're going to extend our Disneyland stay for a few days after too.

I didn't know very many people there (and all of those people were from lj) last year, and I'm excited that you guys get to go too! :D Disneyland is definitely one of those 'the more the merrier' type of places. ;)

And I'm *so* glad it's going to be cooler. I am happy to be able to wear *real* clothes, and not have to dart from AC to AC...lol. I'm also hoping that it'll be not as crowded too because of the season, but also because maybe people aren't vacationing as much. ;)

Actually, [livejournal.com profile] rimrunner claims that the heels on Fluevogs are surprisingly comfortable. She wears them to work regularly (she's an academic librarian, so some sitting, some teaching, some running of assorted academic errands.)

Also, Fluevogs are incredibly durable and well made. It's hard to choke down the price, but they will last you a decade if you take care of them.

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Oh, I know Fluevogs are incredibly durable and well made. I'm currently wearing a pair of pumps from them that I was given for my birthday over a decade ago.

Yeah me too - particularly the Dame Agnes boots since the others would not fit over my calves. So pretty! So would not be good for my feet or back...

Well poo! We'll be in the wrong Disney Park that day! Ah well. At least they moved it to a more sensible time of year. Maybe next year.

From: [identity profile] girlgoth.livejournal.com

Bats Day is actually going to be held in the spring starting next year....which I'm sad about because it will be more likely compete with NorWesCon in our house. :( The next one will be on the first weekend of May 2009.

Want Countess Olivia boots! And compared to my 5" spikes, those look pretty comfy.

I'm with the Stroppy One on theme parks, though.

From: [identity profile] water-of-fire.livejournal.com

You've owned 'vogs, right? I suspect those would not kill your feet, given Fluevogs' fantastic arch support.

(Ooh, the Olivas.)

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

It's not so much the arch support, as the shifting of my center of gravity. Heels make me feel like I'm tipping forward all the time.

From: [identity profile] requieminblack.livejournal.com

I have the Olivas and they are pretty darn comfy. I wouldn't want to say, walk a few miles in them but they are fine for going out and wearing to work. The 'Minis' group however are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. I did walk for miles in my Sugar boots when we were in Europe and my feet did not hurt at all and I didn't get one blister.

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Part of my problem is that heels above 2", no matter how wide, simply shift my center of gravity more than I'm comfortable with. I suspect it's a side effect of being short and busty.

I've got the original version of the Rococo heels (that were released in what, 1996 or so?), and while I love them fiercely, I wouldn't say they're shoes I can wear if I have to do any amount of walking.

From: [identity profile] water-of-fire.livejournal.com

Word to the Minis. I have two pair of them (pair? pairs? paaaaaire? yargh) and I love them.

The Frighfest Northwest folks were just posting a current list of every known HH or yard Haunt in Portland. I'll query about Seattle and let you know.

From: [identity profile] theflittermouse.livejournal.com

Love the boots, but, I don't like the squared toe so much. What ever happened to the good old pointy toed fluevogs? Those would both be the cutest evar with pointies!

I really wish they would re-release some of the old styles from the 80's.

From: [identity profile] theda-bara.livejournal.com

Well, I own both pair of shoes, and what I would tell you about them has already been said to you. I really want to go to Bats Day, but it looks like it would conflict with my husband's school schedule. Aaand, I have no one to take care of our four-legged, hairy child.

*makes sad panda face*

From: [identity profile] icprncs.livejournal.com

Like Javagoth, I would not be able to fit the Olivias over my calves, but I pine for the Agnes regularly. I know a pair of Fluevogs would be an excellent investment, but I still balk at those kinds of prices for anything not custom-made. I'm working on convincing myself. (I'm not really helping you, am I?)

Of course, I can't wear anything over an inch and a half until my knee gets better anyway. *sigh* I could wear those heels otherwise since they're not spiky, but the knee is a deal-breaker.

From: [identity profile] lylassandra.livejournal.com

No Bats Day for me-- I was trying to talk my own husband into it, but two other Disneyland trips are in the works, so this one lost out.

However, I hear you'll be down for Comic-Con next year? If so, epic tangent and I would love to take you out to dinner or something.

From: [identity profile] staxxy.livejournal.com

oooo pretty boots. I will wear them happily if you buy them, since we BOTH know you would never be able to wear them. But you could see them any time. ;)

From: [identity profile] rev-blacky.livejournal.com

I loved Bats Days when I went year before last.
Be sure and take pictures (as I am sure you will)...

From: [identity profile] krypt-kitten.livejournal.com

I stare at those too and I have a coworker that has the Dame Agnes ones and she says they are uncomfortable! So there is your motivation not to get them ;)

From: [identity profile] maiaarts.livejournal.com

ahhhhhhh

I was just trying to get Eric to talk about a vacation.
And I have been whining about seeing the Haunted House in its Nightmare before XMas version.

Why oh WHY didn't I get sinus surgery months ago??

Oh, yeah, my mom was in the hospital...

If I am good, I want to just drag Eric and GO to the Park!!!

From: [identity profile] brumbjorn.livejournal.com

I have the Countess Olivia boots. Worth. Every. Penny. (once you break them in that is and that took no time at all)

I work on my feet all day and have foot/knee/back issues. I can go 10 hours in them with no problems AT ALL. They are MUCH more comfortable then they look. I have wide feet and can not wear any kind of pointy toed shoe at all, but these have a boxy toe and I have not had any problems with the at all. I put them on layway to pay for them -- $50 at a time make the price a bit less dear. YOu know I work for uber conservative high end retailer and I wear them at work (ok, under pants) all the time. love, Love, LOVE these shoes. You need to buy them.

on another note: If I make you some yummeh smelling pink skull and cross bone soaps, will you pick up the BPAL Bats Day scents? **bats eyes**
