Oof, I am tired. I really shouldn't be (well, except for the fact that my body clock is still a bit wonky from traveling last week, and the weekend was packed with wheeeeeeee socializing!), but I feel like I'm about to nod off over my cup of tea.

---

Huh, weather. Look, I know that it needs to be sunny and warm for the sake of the plants, because if it isn't, then [livejournal.com profile] domestinatrix and [livejournal.com profile] minim_calibre are not going to be able to make as much jam (yes, that is how [livejournal.com profile] minim_calibre put it to me), but I've got to say, I like the overcast, the rain, and the general gloom. Go ahead, sigh exasperatedly at me and shake your head. I'm used to it.

---

In between editing topics, I'm browsing Etsy for shiny things. YES, I know I shouldn't, because heaven knows I don't REALLY need any more clothes. But stripey Victorian-esque shrugs! Stripey collars! Reversible stripey collars! Black velvet and feather capelets! Skull-festooned top hats! (Hi Carlee!)

(Yes, all of those were clicky-links, and my goodness could I have used more exclamation points if I tried? Well probably, but I won't for the sake of everyone's sanity. Just imagine the flailing hands and squeaks of glee, okay?)

Dear Self, you do not really have time to play rummage through all the wardrobes and create new outfits. No you do not. In your free time you MUST WRITE. You need to write a new column, not to mention the rest of the other writing. When you are not writing, you should be working on stuff for the Punk Rock Flea Market. Which means no extended wardrobe remix games.

we actually do *need* the weather to do what it is doing. While it is not great for the *plants*, they will all recover soon enough. The important thing is that it means we will have more snow in the mountains, which are still a bit too lean for the summer. Once it does warm up to stay, it is going to be hideously hot for a longer than we are used to (just as bad, if not worse, for the plants, I am sorry to say). It is part of the 100 years cycle of weather.

It is OK.

Someone has to love the clouds. Go pat them on the head for me, K?

You absolutely must buy that hat. I want that hat, but it'd sit on top of my bookshelf forever with the other veiled top hat I don't wear. For which reason you MUST buy that hat.

You were in my dream this morning! There were vampires -- not the good kind -- and I was trying to work out how to get us out, and you produced hairspray from a VERY big bag and said "I know you have a lighter!" with this absolutely gleeful expression on your face. When I pointed out that I was more worried about accidentally setting your petticoats on fire, you pulled them off, rolled them up and tied them with a scarf, then cheerfully helped me set one end on fire and together we threw them into the very small room with the vampires. Cue loud shrieking.

I know you're busy, but I did want you to see these gardens (http://www.bonningtonsquaregarden.org.uk/garden/images.html) today.

Oooh, those are pretty gardens.

Your subconscious is correct; I would sacrifice my petticoats if we needed to set bad vampires on fire.

A Doctor Who story set in those gardens has taken up residence in my head: not only am I thinking of the weaponry possibilities in a typical garden shed and going "Oh holy crap", I'm hearing an elderly man explaining to someone he's fighting beside that this is the other good reason to keep one's tools sharp; there's a salvaged door that's been mounted on one of the walls for decorative purposes, but that's how the monsters are getting in . . . .

Help?

And you need that feathered capelet!

Actually, it's imperative that you rummage though wardrobes for new outfits and buy other stuff to make them perfect so you can look extra special for your publicity photo shoot you're going to arrange with me for your writing career.

See, your writing depends on you having more clothes.

Love the skull fabric on that hat. Its the fabric I'm using for my black Macbook carrying case. :0 )

Now i have "Jam Needs Sunlight" in my head, to the tune of "Mars Needs Women" of course.

This weekend i saw cherries starting to form on the tree in [livejournal.com profile] bee_lucid's backyard -- they're still green, but at least they're starting! -- and bought some of the first cherries of the season from Eastern Washington. We will need more sun if we want the jamberries to get nice and sweet, but it is hard to complain when it's been so prety and comfortable outside.
