I've been back at work since Monday. I still am obviously not back at full health, because my goodness do I get tired easily. But I'm back to my usual routines, and was well enough to go to Stitch & Bitch on Monday night. Seeing people, yay!

I've been receiving a LOT of mail about the latest GCS column, all of which has been complimentary so far. I won't lie: I was very nervous writing that column. But I couldn't ignore the various letters I had been seen from readers about self-harm and self-injury. I am probably going to do a follow-up post with links to resources such as communities and discussion boards that various people have recommended to me.

It should be no secret to anyone that I read assorted fanfic, right? I'm a fan of stories, and there are a lot of good ones to be found in fanfic. I will admit, I'm still very waffly about RPF (Real Person Fic). On the one hand, making up stories about real people's public personae makes sense to me. On the other hand, there are all sorts of issues with privacy and boundaries that I feel very strongly about, especially when they concern public figures I admire. But I have friends who I trust to make recommendations, which means that when someone finds really well-done gen vampire AU MCR fic, I get to cackle delightedly and have a new thing to read.

Speaking of reading, I just got Eccentric Glamour: Creating An Insanely More Fabulous You by Simon Doonan, and I want him to become my fabulous and zany uncle. Why? This quote from the book explains it all:

"First, evolving your own brand of eccentric glamour is good for your psyche. Knowing who you really are and dressing the part - with an air of amused recklessness - is life affirming for you and life enhancing for other people." Look, one of my core philosophies, explained by someone else! Know who you are, be happy with who you are, and stop worrying about what the mythical Everyone Else thinks!

Tangentially speaking of my various core philosophies, the writing is ... going. Not as briskly as I would like, but I AM making progress. So, yay.

And now, because I can, Shallow Fashion Details!
