My goodness, I am in a Very Bad Mood. And for no real reason (other than hormones), because I got enough sleep last night and had a lovely weekend full of tea parties, seeing friends, and exploring a new thrift store.

(Seattle-area peeps: the new Goodwill in Shoreline is one of the better thrift stores I've been to in ages.)

But still, I am unreasonably cranky. I am trying really really hard not to let my crank-tastic mood slop over onto anyone, but it's taking a HUGE effort, believe me. Even the fact that I'm wearing a charming cropped geek-tastic black wool jacket is not improving my mood. (Geek-tastic because it has a patch with the school crest for The Umbrella Academy on it. Yes, fangirly on two levels, and I DON'T CARE. I don't even care that the Latin motto is dreadful. Go ahead, roll your eyes at me.)

So! Tell me good things, peoples. Tell me happy-making things. Please help me vanquish this awful mood. Please?

It smells and feels like Spring outside! (Yes, I know it's only 36 degrees out. It *still* smells like Spring.)

1) Quitting my old job wasn't anywhere near as hard as getting my new one.
2) I'll finally make it to S&B tonight. You?

Three of my manuscripts are scheduled to arrive at two different agents today! Wish me luck!

Yay! for you for actually using the patch, and in such a fabulous manner! I think I'm going to revamp an old and rather generic messenger bag when I get mine...

And because TUA is now the only thing in my head, did you ever get a chance to listen to this? (http://www.comicgeekspeak.com/episodes/comic_geek_speak-456.asp)

It's the sort of thing that I tend to find happiness-inducing.

I am so full of Yes right now that i can absorb all bad moods around me and come out totally Alright (in the Lou Reed sense).

Yesterday i baked my first cake from The Cake Bible. It was a spelt version of the banana cake (also my first spelt cake, made especially for a good friend who can't eat regular wheat) iced with bittersweet ganache. It was so good, i want to bake a cake every day. I might bake another cake this afternoon, and would feed you some of it if i saw you this evening, and probably wrap you up a chunk of it to bring home to Pete, assuming that i do get around to baking it.

We should make a plan for me to come to your house and play kitchen. I'm so full of all-things-are-possible, i really want to people to eat food i've cooked in case maybe this mood is contagious.

Oh, you totally SHOULD bake another cake as I'll almost certainly be at S&B tonight.

I have to say a spelt banana cake sounds lovely, I like spelt, and I suspect I would enjoy this. Jilli might not, though.

Oooh, cake. I plan on seeing you this evening, and have tiny cute plastic food for you.

And yes, you should come to my house and play kitchen. I love when you come to my house and play kitchen; it fills me with a deep, primal joy.

Good heavens, this is so rude that I can't even believe I'm doing it, but maybe I could watch E in your kitchen for a little bit at some point? I learn a fair amount from watching competent people handle food and do techniques. So far, watching myself has been less than helpful.

Watching E in the kitchen is the fastest way to learn how to cook yummy things. Let me talk to her, and we'll figure something out.

(And no, not rude at all! Stop worrying!)

The days are getting longer and Spring is on its way :)

I helped adopt out an adorable 4 month old black kitten named Moe on Saturday. He was so patient and good he let a 1 year old toddler pet him! So proud of little Moe!

I don't know if you'll find this squee-worthy or not, but it made me happy:

Baby monotremes are called puggles, which has to be the most adorable name for a baby animal ever.

I don't know if this will cheer you; however, it did wonders for me!

My students participated in Drama Districts this weekend and did amazing! Monologues earned 4 Excellents and 1 Superior; Duet Acting earned 2 Excellents and 2 Good's; Ensemble Acting earned 1 Excellent; Solo Musical earned 2 Superiors; Duet Musical earned 1 Excellent; Publicity Design earned 1 Superior (from a Sophomore!) and 1 Good; Costume Design earned a Superior and was Critics Choice Honorable Mention (she did a post-apocalyptic Everyman...so cool and gothy!); and Playwriting earned a Superior and was Critics Choice (He wrote a play called "Holy Matrimony" about Satan being married and telling his obsessively cleaning wife, Mindy, who he really is. It's got a wonderful Albee-esque dinner complete with a game of charades. Quite a wonderful piece from an 18 year old who had never done anything like this before)

Their one act (15 Reasons Not to Be in A Play) earned Superior ratings for both performance and technical and the cast was awarded a trophy for being the "Best Ensemble" in the One Act festival!

The worst part of the whole weekend was having to deal with a truly disagreeable person who tried to rain on our parade and supremely ugly festival t-shirts that no amount of lace or frill can save, and are grammatically incorrect!

I hope your mood brightens soon!

Ooh! Ooh! I'm no longer single! ^_^ I met a lovely lady (my first night at the club, no less) who is a costume and makeup designer. Lil ol' me may have a chance of looking attractive. Well, that and I found out that I got photographed at a masquerade party.

I am excited!

I am going to go to Norwescon to meet some of the authors that hang out at Empire of the Cat. I am also going to represent (www.empireofthecat) The Empire Book Group while I am there! :) like old times. I am excited just to get out of the house!

Oh, please tell Pete that Vanessa is going to dance Lucifer again March: 8, 15 & 16 at Chamber Theater - 915 East Pine, 4th floor. And of course Eric is going to play! more info at www.deathposture.org

Let's see. I cannot wear That Jacket without collecting compliments every third step. I banged through nine different kinds of bar cookies today so I have a lot of playtime available at work this week for messing around with petits fours and other whimsies. I have a new cookbook. And I made vegetarian marshmallows!

If you skip to about 2:20 on this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IosNVoXMLT4), you will learn that MCR is stopping in the US once more after South America.

I'm hoping hoping hoping that means here. Or at least California.

There is something in the mail going to you...
That might knock you out of the Bla mood.

Well, you made me smile by creating an aura of intelligence around the EGL discussions you took part in - I'm not sure if it lifts up your mood but is sure did mine!
