Firstly, a Very Happy Birthday to Princess Tickybox Squeakaboo Lilybean! It's hard to believe it's been a year since you arrived.

Secondly, ieeeee! Work has gotten busier. While I will still be around on LJ and whatnot for much-needed sanity breaks, I may not have time to comment on things. It's not that I don't love you all, it's that work is eating my head.

... What else? While I was brewing a pot of tea (white tea with rose and mint, from "Zhena's Gypsy Tea"), a guy walked through the kitchen, talking on his cell phone. Upon seeing me, he said "Oh my God, that's awesome! Dude, you should see the goth chick here! She's great!", made a thumbs-up gesture at me, and then walked out of the kitchen. Oooo-kay.

  • Black princess-seamed frock coat that has cotton-candy pink buttons AND cotton-candy pink satin ribbons on the sides. (The jacket has faux-corset lacing loops down each side panel, which means I can adjust it for a better fit.)

  • An antique miniature pocket watch on a long-ish silver chain around my neck (a family heirloom), a choker made from black lace, cotton-candy pink velvet ribbon, and an antique cameo locket, and the usual collection of rings

  • The usual top hat, my hair in two low ponytails, the usual makeup, and my glasses

Now, back to searching through glossary documents. My excitement knows no bounds.

"Dude, you should see the goth chick here! She's great!"

hehehehe... it must be a interesting feeling to know that people think of you as so ... decorative? :)

I must try this tea! Can I find it easily on the Hill, and/or can you bring a bit over sometime?

It's easily-findable at Whole Foods, I know that much. But I'll try and bring some over on Monday night. :)

My current tea love is the Zhena's Gypsy Tea's red lavender. It is rooibos with dried lavender. Yummy.

I imagine it's tricky to appreciate a compliment delivered in such a ham-fisted fashion.

I think I'd have been left giving him the raised eyebrow.

Also, not as much fun as the Southern gentleman who described you as looking 'spiffy' yesterday.

At least Cell Phone Dude didn't make the sign of the cross or shriek like a small child.

'Spiffy' has to be one of the best compliments. Hands down. Fun to say. Fun to hear.

I think although guy-walking-through-kitchen doesn't score well in the grace category, perhaps he should receive a few points for kind intentions and the (obvious) earnestness of same.

What it lacked in elegance, it seems to have made up for in sincerity.

I'm with you. What is it with people on cellphones? As they blunder through our lives yammering into their little boxes, it's as if they're compelled to narrate everything that goes on around them. It's as if the rest of us aren't real people, or are just animals in a zoo. If Jilli had been behind a glass partition, would he have tapped on it? Sheesh. Sorry, I'm just cranky today.

Actually, I think that's a pretty accurate reading of what bothered me with his manner.

Tickybox has such adorable smooshable cheeks. I can't believe it's been a year!

I get this sort of reaction when I am dressed more up than down.

I think that the fact that we end up looking so much like life size victorian dolls leads people to believe that we aren't actually real people and therefore would not be offended by being treated like a collectable doll, or referred to in similar terms.

This is where we insert a grey faced emoticon. Bleh.

The Top Hat makes the look.

I need to raid your closet :)
