I feel like I didn't get any sleep last night. Which is ridiculous, because I did (and it was filled with odd dreams), but it apparently didn't actually work. I am so, so not amused by this state of being.
Dithering about bags: while I love the black leather Coach tote that
alexiarnps (my resident Coach addict) found me, it doesn't have a long strap that I can use to wear the bag across my body, instead of hanging from one of my shoulders. And now that I have a work laptop that I'm going to be carting to and fro, I need a bag that won't put stress on my (already twinge-y and temperamental) shoulders and neck. (And no, I refuse to consider a backpack. Ew.)
So! Target.com, bless 'em, has a bag I like. In pink (
alexiarnps,
stroppy_baggage, stop rolling your eyes.) or in black. (Yes, clicky links. You knew that.) I'm (of course) leaning toward the pink one, because, ooh, fun! And at that price, I would feel no remorse about adorning a leather bag with satin bats. But would the black be a better bet? I just don't know.
... gosh, I hope I become clearer-headed soon.

This is my biggest problem with buying bags too. Because I sometimes walk with crutches, I have to be able to sling my bag across my body, because, otherwise, while I am walking it ends up on the floor.

However, I'd be concerned that the strap isn't wide enough. The weight of a laptop suspended by a slender strap can be ouchie on the shoulders.

well, then it would probably work out fine :)
I say go for the pink!

I bought a bottle-green leather jacket and have been happy that I went for the weird, flattering color instead of trying to be more practical. I get a lot of compliments on it because green leather isn't very common, but somehow it works.

Another vote for pink : )
Now, if that's real leather, be sure you use a glover's needle to tack things onto it - it'll make your life a lot easier.
