In addition to standing up, speaking out, and defending people at risk, in addition to donating to causes and organizations that are doing good work, this idea of #harpycorps is really resonating with me. Because let me be honest: I am a cis, white, heterosexual woman. My markers of "other" are chosen self-adornment. I've got a fair amount of privilege. But I am going to use that privilege to stick to my weird ways, to be unrepentantly visible, to use my visibility to back up people who need it, and to reassure other oddball and eccentric folks that they're not alone.
Today's Gothic Charm School post is about babybats striving to become more fully themselves. There's also a section at the top of the post with links to causes that could use support and donations now more than ever.
I hope you folks will stand with me.

I quilt darkly, I sew darkly. I'm wearing the safety pin from now on to let others know I'm here to be a shoulder and a helping hand to those as need it. Empathy I have in spades. Crying I've done a lot this week, and am still dealing with it. cutting fabric for quilt projects, and fruitcake baking are helping.

got my safety pins, going all dark - gonna not wear my vivid colors.
Its all black and grey - same with Eric.
Except our hair. Because we are freaks and we are leaving those flags flying.
I don't know if I feel like a harpy, but I am owning #cronepower
I love you and will always stand with you
