I'm in the depths of one of my "find all the stripey blazers!" cycles. Why yes, you remember correctly: I DO have a bunch of stripey blazers already.

None of them fit me right now*.

::And now, the Body Image Demons, performing their timeless classic "QUUUUUEEEEEEEN OF THE WAAAAAALRUS PEOPLE!"::

I am taking steps (literally, heh) to fix that situation, but that doesn't change the fact that I want stripey blazers that fit me NOW. I am in the midst of tailoring one that was in the depths of the Storage Heap Room o' Doom, but let's be realistic about me, I need at least two stripey blazers: one black and white, one black and pink.

Finding black and white stripey blazers would be a lot simpler if I wasn't fervently, irrationally against horizontal stripes for myself. But every time I think about wearing a horizontally-striped blazer, the Body Image Demons get even louder. Which I didn't think was possible.

*Okay, that's not quite true. My striped frock coat from F+F still fits. But that's a smidge more formal than I want for my usual "leaving the house" fashion. The frock coat is for fancy events, not wandering around.

*smacks your BIDs upside the head*

I still have this jacket, and have never been able to fit into it -- hoping that Metformin helps me on that account.

*hugs*

AH-HA! Thank you for posting that link! I knew there was another style of stripey top/jacket out there, and I couldn't remember where I had seen it.

Glad to help! Although, fair warning, their 2X is REALLY tight.

I think your demons and my brain weasels have been getting together for planning and strategy sessions.

Hugs.

THEY DO NOT NEED TO HELP EACH OTHER.

What do your Wed. evenings usually look like? Maybe we can get together next week.

You know I'm a fiend for bicycling, especially as my exercise jam. I know you don't know how to ride. But by an odd twist of fate, Goldiebike is technically too small for me and can probably be adjusted to perfectly fit you - for educational purposes. If you're game, I am, but you will wear a helmet.

I should be free next Wednesday. Usually we have band practice, but our guitarist is going to Hawaii with his wife.

I think they all need to get bent. I can't look in a mirror lately without feeling completely disconsolate.

FWIW, sometimes horizontal stripes can actually be more flattering than vertical stripes, depending on the size and spacing of said stripes--if there's too much spaces between the vertical stripes/they're too wide, the eye "reads" across and sees the wearer as "wider", whereas narrower horizontal stripes lead the eye downward...or so I've been told.

Begone, brain demons/weasels/whathaveyou!
