cupcake_goth: A lady always carries a handkerchief. (dainty cliche)

On New Year's Day, I made a playlist for the upcoming year. This is not something I usually do, but I knew I needed to do.

13 songs to set the tone for 2012:

Pay Attention/In A World Of My Own - Alice In Wonderland soundtrack
Waking The Witch - Kate Bush
Defying Gravity - Wicked soundtrack
Plasticine - Placebo
Army Of Me - Bjork
Destroya - My Chemical Romance
Prodigal - Faith and the Muse
Ready To Go (Get Me Out Of My Mind) - Panic! at the Disco
Why Can't I Be You - The Cure
Stand And Deliver - Adam and the Ants
Kiss Them For Me - Siouxsie and the Banshees
Cloudbusting - Kate Bush
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious - Mary Poppins soundtrack
Thank you to everyone who posted about their jewelry and personal talismans! It was fascinating reading. Also, I hold [livejournal.com profile] starpolish responsible for the fact that I am now trying to find a miniature silver version of The Key To Hell from The Sandman. Because ... yeah. Because.

Yesterday's outfit ended up including strands of pearls from both of my grandmothers, along with all the other personal talismans. And yes, all of that made me feel more centered.

Another thing I do in times of emotional stress is make playlists. (Back at the dawn of time, it was mix tapes.) This is the current one, named Invocation. It's a work in progress; it feels like it's almost done, but I can't put my finger on what songs may be missing. Maybe something by Siouxsie? Anyway, yes, all female vocals, and a lot of Faith & The Muse. But at the moment, the most emotionally resonant song for me is Lily by Kate Bush.

Thing One: I am going to post the list for the closet culling sale on Saturday, February 27th. Probably around noon PST. This is your advance notice. ::grin::

Thing Two: Over on my Twitter, I posted the following: La la la, updating my Modern Victorian Vampires iTune playlist. My, what a lot of cello and creepy circus music I have, but I need more!

I do need more music for this playlist, really, I do. But that tweet had people asking me what was ON my Modern Victorian Vampires playlist, so here it is, under the cut-tag.

Be warned, it's, well, a rather lengthy playlist. )

Are all of those songs "Victorian"? No. Nor are all of them about vampires. But they're the songs that made sense to me for the playlist. But hey! I'm always looking for more music, so do you have any recommendations?
