Pete just called me, and he is safely at his Mum's house in Wales. The flight was uneventful, the car rental place was not exactly a bastion of glowing customer service, and the drive was ok.

The cats keep coming up to me and looking at me with expressions that I'm pretty sure are where's the other biped? the tall one? where did you put him?.

Recap for those I haven't mentioned it to: Pete is in the UK for all of September, helping his Mum sort and clear the house. This is going to be an odd month.

Josh refers to our cats' confusion as "Where did Purple Mommy go?" They are being super-clingy since Kira left for school -- not that I mind extra cuddles!

Glad that Pete made it safely!

*hugs*

I feel for him if he drove immediately after landing... We did that once to Cornwall from London after flying (& completely jetlagged) from the US, only to be awakened by concerned villagers staring through our window after deciding to take a quick nap outside the petrol station ;)

Yup, I drove all the way. Sleep deprived at 85 mph.

It was fun.

Shockingly, I know how to make coffee. :D

As for cupcakes -- oh, there are people who know they may get called for cupcake expeditions. Or to come over and deal with spiders.

I'm glad he made it without hassle or incident. And I hope he and his Mum are able to accomplish what they are setting out to do, which is no small task. I made a similar journey a couple of years ago (though not so far -- my mother lives in California) and it didn't exactly go as planned once I realized how set in her ways my mother really is.

A month by yourself with the cats would be.. odd! Do you have plans to do things you wouldn't do otherwise with Pete home? I am glad to know that you have backup to deal with spiders (I'd need that too) and cupcake delivery :)

My spouse is the alpha cat so its mighty pitiful if he gone for long. I try not to feel like chopped liver. Glad he made it safely.

Great to hear he made it there okay. :) Remember now, young lady: no crazy parties or dressing up various things and cats as Dave Vanian.
