That is the sound of the Wayback Machine in a tizzy. White Wolf Games opened pre-orders for the 20th Anniversary edition of Vampire: the Masquerade. (clicky-link!)

I won't even try to fib here: yeah, I wanted it. Wanted, past-tense, because the amusement I would get from it is not worth the $99 price tag. But maybe someone I know will get a copy, and I'll be able to at least flip through it and giggle.

I don't even have a copy of the original book anymore; it vanished at least 15 years ago with a roommate. I do want to eventually get a copy of that original book, but the Stroppy One keeps assuring me that the next time we go visit his family, I can bring *his* original copy home for nostalgia's sake.

Somewhere, in a drawer or a box downstairs, I have my original membership card to the Camarilla. IIRC, member # 40 or 42. Yes, I was that silly. And hey, I sometimes miss vampire LARPing. But I don't miss the out-of-game drama and bureaucracy, and I certainly don't have time for such a hobby any more. (Besides, if I was going to give in and do that sort of thing, I'd want a troupe game with a Victorian-Age Vampire setting, dammit.)

A friend of mine just modeled for a Brujah character for the revamped artwork. SO SMEXY

You're going?! Oh, have fun. The StuntHusband ([livejournal.com profile] skarrin and myself idly talked about going, but not in any serious manner.

Ya, I'll probably get it. I also have the Victorian VtM sourcebook should you ever get time for a game.

I have to admit, I miss playing. But, I don't miss the rest of the drahma, and I really disliked the last few game resets.

If you get that troupe game set up, let me know. I'd love to have my French Courtesan Malkavian come out to play.

My bottom bookshelf is still chock-full of White Wolf. Multiple Vampire editions...including the original LARP stuff..the one that came with the Ankh. Which I still have.

I have no shame whatsoever. That's my little treasure trove, and I peek through occasionally just for the memories.

And if you would have the time for a LARP? I'd so wanna be in with you. :D

Um, I still have my 1st edition book, hardcover. Beat to hell, but I just confirmed that it's in a shelf of V:tM stuff in our living room.

What's disturbing to me is how many of my old gaming pals (& even worse, non-pals) have shown up in the SCA ... talk about power-gaming!

I miss the non-Cam game I was in when I lived in Dallas. All the fun without the bureaucracy. I really don't have time to do that again either--really--but I'd be tempted if a non-Cam game appeared.

I'd totally be in for a Victorian troupe game. I don't have time for the Cam anymore either...

I still have a lot of older V:TM stuff. I stopped playing around 2000, and never got back into it. And now I'd have to spend a fortune to restart.

I think I can get you a copy I work with a number of people who wrote the old clan books and white wolf might be having to give them a few copies of this book.

and I feel old... I still have all the old books in a box .

There is always Half-Price Books for old copies of VtM. I almost always see copies when we go.

I have my old copy from 1995 or so. I had no friends, so never played, but I always liked the character creation system. What I wish I still had are my old Clanbooks for Malkavian and Tzimisce! (Oh god how I loved the Evil Shapeshifty Thing. Oh SO much.)

Ah, memories. Largely of things that never happened.

White Wolf published Minds Eye Theatre rules for the Victorian age, and an entire line of Table Top as well, it's fairly cool.

We haven't played since the munchkin was born, but I have a sneaking suspicion the husband may still be getting a copy for his birthday this summer.

Can't believe anyone would still game with what was the Camarilla - it's now Midnight Dance, or some such, due to the company that owns White Wolf "giving it back" to the fans - likely due to the multiple lawsuits.
Why? Oh, because of the way they Don't take sexual harassment (or assault) seriously, and have rampant friepitism (friend based nepotism). Sad.

What? Oh yes, was a member for 9 years. Still have every book ever printed, and both larp and TT with troupe, but geez. That group is the definition of Issues.

(as always, YMMD, but it's seriously F'd up now in most places)

I'm sure I have my Cam membership card lurking around somewhere. Member #10. And I have all the original books somewhere in storage.

Victorian-Age Vampire would be the single most dashing setting EVER.

How I long for a starched collar to have just a slight spatter of blood on it!

This is where I am with it as well. Vampire was what intro'd me to gaming PERIOD but I'm not paying a hundred bucks for it.
