"Yes, baking is supposed to be about exact measurements."
Um, no? Baking is about making things with oodles of love. ;) I usually throw in about a third more sugar than a cookie recipe suggests, half of some spice etc. Sometimes I just use the recipe to get the basic idea of what I'm supposed to be making and create something totally new.
My sister's the one who wants to get things as perfect as possible, which makes them usually good but not OMG-soooo-goood! E.g. I don't need to get my roasted almonds all glossy, mine usually come out quite rocky-looking which is totally fine with me. It's the taste that counts. And that I make them with oodles of love.
So, when I make your gingerbread bats I'll surely use less ginger, 'cause I belong to those people who taste ginger as soap. Ick.
