In other news, I think I figured out the core problem with the Addams Family Musical. The story feels like it was created by people who don't really get the dark charm, whimsy, and affection of the Addams. Instead, it seems to be a fairly standard plot given a thin veneer of quirky. That said, I do like some of the songs.

When I read the description of some of the plot for the Adam's Family musical, I was thinking this too. It seems too sitcom-y in a way. It might be interesting still but it's kind of sad that they couldn't have come up with something that would be closer to the original show which, in my humble opinion, is still lovely and charming after all these years.

I'd agree with that assessment; no goths on the team for this one, it seems. The sets and effects were really beautiful at turns though. Grandmama, my fave. She really cut up a mess.
