Looking straight up at noon on Saturday. That dark line is the underside of the eaves at the back of our house. EDITED TO ADD: And it lasted for about 4 hours!

Beautiful! And blocking the sun with your house definitely helps the colors photograph better! This is called a 22 degree halo, caused by the way light refracts through hexagonal ice crystals *nerd*
And by the way, hi! I just friended you, after you posted a link to this post on your twitter, which I also follow... my username there is the same as this one. I read about your site on neil gaiman's blog last year and bought your book the day it came out :) I love it; it's really inspired me to be more up-front and open about my gothiness (I mean, I figure if I've been more-or-less goth since preteenhood and I'm now 24, it's probably not a phase and I might as well openly be who I am without shame, right?)
