The one about the rainbow halo around the sun?

Looking straight up at noon on Saturday. That dark line is the underside of the eaves at the back of our house. EDITED TO ADD: And it lasted for about 4 hours!

O_O I wish we could've had that in Tally...

The halo of the sun!! This is a total silent hill reference, though you might not get it.. I'm jealous <33

Spydr and I chatted about it at around that time. We were leading the movers to the new place. I still think of it as a good omen for my moving forward. :)

Beautiful! And blocking the sun with your house definitely helps the colors photograph better! This is called a 22 degree halo, caused by the way light refracts through hexagonal ice crystals *nerd*
And by the way, hi! I just friended you, after you posted a link to this post on your twitter, which I also follow... my username there is the same as this one. I read about your site on neil gaiman's blog last year and bought your book the day it came out :) I love it; it's really inspired me to be more up-front and open about my gothiness (I mean, I figure if I've been more-or-less goth since preteenhood and I'm now 24, it's probably not a phase and I might as well openly be who I am without shame, right?) So thanks :)

There was one of those in LA when I was in elementary school! I remember marveling over it during P.E.
I believe they're called "sun dogs".

I found a geeky weather blog article about the phenomenon!

It's a Parhelic Circle.

[livejournal.com profile] domichan, [livejournal.com profile] seedmoon, and I were remarking on this while having lunch at Agua Verde on Saturday.

That's very impressive. It's too cloudy here to get any of that, but hey, we have volcanic ash kicking the airlines' butts. ;D
