Firstly, a conversation via Twitter between myself and [livejournal.com profile] kambriel, about the vampire killing kit:

Kambrieldesign @CupcakeGoth What about the vampire protector kit ~ who's going to *protect* the vampires?! ;)

CupcakeGoth @Kambrieldesign My theory is the vampires are the ones creating/collecting them, as a form of protective coloration. ;)

(Yes, that's how my brain works.)

Secondly, I know that taxidermy is not everyone's thing, so I'll put the image behind a cut-tag. But if I were a fabulously wealthy eccentric, you'd better BELIEVE I would be purchasing this antique Victorian cage housing a preserved bat!

Mind you, I can almost guarantee that the Stroppy One wouldn't want me to have it displayed in the house. But oh! How I want it. Stamp my cliché card now, please.

Oh, my goodness. That's ADORABLE. I am only lightly squicked by it being taxidermied -- I would love it more if it were a purely replica bat, but even so.

Speaking of taxidermied. Would you be interested in a wearable fur piece made from three whole-dead-flat-minks sewn together as one collar/scarf object? My friend with the attic GAVE it to me with a "get it out of my house, please -- sell it or wear it or whatever, but it gives me the creeps." It's a little over-the-top for me, but would it be something you'd wear, or would you know someone who'd like it?

if jilli doesn't want it, I sure do!

:)

also, the bat in the cage thingy? *squeee*

eh. taxidermy is just modern mummification.

and this is very cute.

And see, I figured about the same thing. they would keep everything sealed, but study it to help protect themselves and each other... and of course to allay suspicions. ;)

Oh dear, I want that bat too. Not sure if T. would want it in our house (he'd be squicked, pretty sure), but he might not mind if I had it in a room he doesn't use much, like the sewing room, where it'd be lovely... *le sigh*

If either of us could find a cage like that I could TOTALLY make one of those for you (*is a taxidermist* although really, it looks more freeze-dried than all out taxidermy to me, but I could do that too)

Normally I more of a "watching the bats fly around and be all alive-like" person, but this is pretty darned cute. I am fairly certain however that not only would customs not allow it into Australia, but that my kitty of doom would find a way to "get to know" the batty bat bat... That would not be so pretty... /sadness

Cute bat.

I have seen two bats made into a little reticule before. Maybe in my mother's collection of odd purses. She has an alligator paw reticule, too.

Two bats made into a reticule? Oh my goodness. That would be so cute!

What do you win if you get ten stamps on your cliché card?

I want one!
My little bat Edmund needs a friend, hopefully one fresher, dear ol' Edmund isn't the youngest bat anymore (even his chemical smell is gone D: )

From: [identity profile] arinye.livejournal.com

I couldn't resist!

Look, I examined this bat when I got it home, and I discovered the only reason that it had been hanging from its perch in the first place was that it had been nailed there.

I would prefer a live, miraculously tame bat who would hang from my finger and eat from my hand...

(Obviously this would have to be a fruit bat. I'm not holding any bugs for it.) (Or opening a vein, for that matter.)

I'm with you on the live-tame-fruitbat thing. They're unbelievably cute.
