As I'm taking photos of the various garments I've culled from my closets, I am dithering about a particular skirt. It's a wonderful skirt that [livejournal.com profile] angldst made for me ages ago, and that particular skull-print fabric is no longer available.

I had put the skirt in the sale pile because I hadn't worn it in something like 2 years, but now that I've got it on Miss Lucretia the dress form, I'm dithering. Because I just thought of some outfits I could assemble around it that would be pretty darn cute. Decisions, decisions.

In other closet culling news: those of you with Steampunk leanings will be *very* interested in some of the things I'm getting rid of. Military jackets and brick red skirts covered in ruffles, oh yes.

Now to stare at this particular skirt and dither some more.

I say try wearing it out again and see if you fall in love. I have had old Victorian style costume jewelry that didn't mesh with my huge 50's rhinestone confections I loved at the time. I was thinking of parting with but now that I am in to steampunk and lolita I am very glad I didn't.

Keep it. You always have the ability to sell it later, but if you sell it now, you might not be able to convince the person you sold it to that you'd like to have it back again ;)

keep it until you are sure you do not want it any more.

Awwww our dress forms have the same name! I guess it's a pretty obvious name, it being our virtual reflection and all...but still, cool. XD

Never mind how the skirt looks on Miss Lucretia. Try it on yourself with the elements that you would wear with it. Do you love it? Or is it just meh? If you love it, keep it, if you just feel lukewarm about it, it would much rather be with someone who WILL love it. Our possessions have feelings, too, and they delight in being useful. Also, by getting rid of things that you are sure you don't need, you are letting things you DO need enter your life.

I like your thinking on this, mimimanderly. The skirt was put in the sale pile for a reason, I'm guessing. The possibilities are indeed endless, but a person only has one lifetime, and can't express every possibility!

Try the outfits out and see how you feel. If you don't love it you can always sell it later. :)

Keep it for now. (and how glad I am for the bits of change I've been saving. New clothing from the "Jilli Line"!)

Oh my, good timing! I have monies in my paypal . . . and getting some more in there soon form Ebay selling! Squee! And my fashion leanings is Gothic-steam punk so . . . yaaay! Frilly skirts and military jackets!

Try those said outfits on your self, if you don't like, well, then you don't like it. If it happens that oh . . . hey, this skirt is working ok on me, then keep it!

This makes me rather envious of the women who could benefit from your closet culling. It's a bit harder for us guys to afford the victorian gothic / steampunkish styles in our closets. Or at least in mine
