Yesterday turned out to be a Not Able To Write day (it happens), so instead I finished making what may be the most quintessential Cupcake Goth skirt yet: knee-length, with side panels in black twill. The front panel, ruffled hem, and back panel that is covered in three tiers of large ruffles were all made from the Skullduggery fabric by Alexander Henry (clicky-link!), which I had spent an evening dyeing pink. Yes, I have a black & pink skirt with Victorian-esque skulls. I think I'm going to wear it to the Emilie Autumn show.

Video games! Last night, for the first time in my life, I set up a video game. Yes, I now have my own copy of Rock Band for the PS3. BlueJay was over last night, and helped me select wardrobe for my avatar. There was much conversation of "Ooooh, you need that in Real Jilli size!" "Jay, I don't wear skirts that short." "But you COULD!"

I named my fictional band Vampbait. Whaaaaat? Of course I did, don't look surprised.

The Stroppy One has promised that I can go onto the Rock Band music store and purchase some songs, so I don't make squinchy faces at some of the tracks offered to me in game at this level. (Oh lord, Alice 'n Chains. No. Just ... please no.) I am planning on purchasing some Siouxsie, some Psychedelic Furs, and "thnkx 4 th mmrs" by Fall Out Boy. Not only because I do like the song, but it's become very, very funny to me recently, for various reasons.

Speaking of ridiculous purchases, I am kind of tempted by this (clicky-link). I would wear it with fitted blazers and fluffy skirts, and it would look very cute. The Stroppy One would probably be appalled, but [livejournal.com profile] cass404 and others who have a shameful hair metal past would throw the horns in glee.

When has that stopped anyone? DO IT.

You don't want that top, it doesn't have sleeves.

What you really want is soem nummy cherry gubbins that I still need to bring over, and apple butter which I need to find time to pick apples for, assuming they';re ready which it seems like they must be.

Oi! Stroppmeyer Von Crankyface pictures from Motley Crue t-shirt! Want pictures of!

I'm going to build a time machine and torture your entire family line, past and future, for that name.

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Oooh, once you invent the time machine, I need to go back to 1897 and 1962 to purchase some books.

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Oh, I wear sleeveless tops under jackets, so it would be fine. I'd even add lace trim to the neckline!

You're right, I do want nummy cherry gubbins. Um, schedule explode-y over the next few days. Maybe Sunday afternoon?

Sadly, the apples may be past ready. But I have a gallon bag of sliced ones in the freezer that I will hand over.

Shoot, I was wondering if I might have been too late for magic apples. My schedule's been more asplodie than usual lately, and unfortunately will is expected to continue so for a the next three quarters until I finish with this school business. Oh well, thank you for freezing some. I still have some applesauce from last year, and I should be able to scare up some apples for butterfying.

I've been working on rebuilding my relationship with time. The option seemed to be to either become more flaky or to make fewer commitments, neither of which would really work for me, so instead I'm trying out this system where I don't commit further out than maybe tomorrow for anything other than Events that I'm a necessary party to (work and school of course excluded). I think, however, that Sunday afternoon would probably be great and I'd love to see you then. I'll touch this base this weekend to confirm if that'll work for both of us then.

I don't even have a shameful hair-metal past (in my shameful youth, I was a Deadhead) but I totally think you should get that tank, it's adorable.

And for all that I lack the shameful hair-metal past, the '70s hard rock woven through Supernatural? Totally familiar and beloved and causing chair-dances when I hear it. Some of it shades into hair-metal -- there's '80s Bon Jovi in there.

I'm glad at least one Deadhead survives! Hair/metal/thrash slid right past me!

Hugs, Justine

We will not even discuss my pre-Deadhead '80s pop days. Not that some of the music isn't good, but the leggings, ankle boots, Shaker-knit v-neck sweater worn backwards over lace camisole, huge belt, and super-long knotted fake pearls deserve to fade into obscurity!

Yes, I knew that outfit well, although I tended to go for wads of sparkly jewelry instead of the pearls. O_O

Oh, I wore vintage rhinestone earrings whenever I could get away with it, but my mother was opposed, so I had to sneak them out of the house in my pockets!

*raises hand* I may only be 26, but I was a deadhead throughout a large portion of high school. Still got a few bears. Soon maybe I'll fit back into the t-shirts, since they only make 'em up to 3X. I just wish I'd saved my old ones. Oh well.

Do it!!! It is worth the squinchy face.

That fabric is simply delightful! Very appropriate for an EA show. Speaking of, which are you attending? Have you been before? I saw her in Baltimore and am seeing her again in DC, very exciting. Her show is amazing, if you haven't seen it yet.

I'm attending the Portland concert (the lure of seeing her in my home town on Halloween is not enough to make me want to skip my wedding anniversary). I haven't seen her before, so I'm very excited!

Is Emilie Autumn sold out in Seattle?

I doubt I'd have the energy to go, but I do like her, and I haven't been to a decent show in months.

I've always been oddly fond of Motley Crue, despite knowing nothing about their music, simply because a friend's dad was in a band with a few of them before the formed MC.

I was just at the Emilie Autumn concert in San Francisco. It was freaking amazing! Make sure you get there for the start time and are wearing shoes you can stand up in for 2 and a half hours (or longer if you want merch.)

And that fabric is so cool!

Forgot to add earlier: Nothing wrong with Alice In Chains if you're into the British Hair Metal thing. (Are they even British? Hell if I know.) But personally I prefer Iron Maiden.
