I think the job interview today went well. I should know by next week whether or not the interviewers thought it went well, too. I also was given a lead today for a full-time (instead of a year-long contract) position, and I'm still waiting to hear back from the hiring manager of a different company that a friend put me in touch with. So, finally some progress on the job hunt, thank goodness.

Tonight involves making a extra-ruffly skirt (from skull-patterned fabric!), having a glass of absinthe, and having Coppola's Dracula on in the background for eye candy. I still believe that Tom Waits played the best version of Renfield ever, and his performance almost makes up for Keanu's. Almost.

Remember! Tomorrow is the Giant Closet Culling Sale! That post will probably go up around noon-ish Seattle-time.

extra-ruffly skirt

I read that as "extra-fluffy". Not quite you.

noon-ish

I'll be handy with the reload button.

YES, indeed! I do believe the great Goth Cabal had a meeting and granted Tom Waits with an honorary Goth pass. A Goth pass beats a Goth card since it doesn't need to be stamped regularly. Haha. ;)

I didn't realize there was any debate on this matter. It's blindingly obvious.

(And let me know what you would like to do for my item pickup. Next two evenings aren't free but there's room in the weekend.)

Dwight Frye can suck it!

Btw, have you heard the Alice demos? There's some great stuff there that's quite different from the final album. The original version of "We're All Mad Here" (titled "Hang Me In the Bottle") is just a perfect Halloween song. Like, well, if Renfield had a theme.

Keanu ruins that movie. It makes no sense as a love triangle if the Good Guy makes you wish for death.

But then, anyone would struggle to hold up against Oldman in my eyes, Sean Connery sadly being too old for Jonathan Harker...

I was watching that film just the other day. Poor Keanu, he's so out of his depth but it's still a classic for me. I can forgive everything because of Gary.

Good luck with the job interviews :)

I'm adding my vote for Tom Waits as well... *nodnod*

Coppola's Dracula is great for tableaux, set scenes and stills, because everything looks so pretty. And, yes, Waits is great. Lucy, however, is just ... odd.

Personally, I am still waiting for someone to film Dracula more or less as it is written (no, not as letters), getting the sequence of events right and including all the major characters

In my book, Jilli has an uncle named Renny who is obsessed with Dracula. Except in his version, Dracula is a bat who can turn into a man and walk away.

Re: Coppola's Dracula

I could watch Anthony Hopkins for hours (and have done so!) and he completely embodies all that is fun about Van Helsing.

I do hope you take pictures of your skirt when it is done, I'd love to see it!

Keanu was the most painful thing in Dangerous Liaisons too (his whole "oh it's sublime, don't you find?" about the opera made me laugh out loud it was so bad). Luckily both movies had amazing costumes, and a few great actors that carried everyone else. :P

Gah! Why must I have to work tomorrow. ::throws hands up to the sky:: Curses!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you on the interview! They'd be crazy to not want you!

On the topic of Absinthe, what bottle do you prefer? A friend of mine collects different Absinthe's and we had a tasting 2 weeks ago where I must have tried 10 different kinds...my favorite was Pernod though. Just Curious.
