See, I did manage to get all the AquaNet washed out of my hair!

For those of you exclaiming over the boots from yesterday's Deathrock photo; yes, those were classic "more buckles than toes" goth boots that I've had for ages.

adorable skirt...or is it a whole dress? *shrug* Whatever it is, it's cute.

It's a skirt that I customized. The skull panel is from a t-shirt. :)

That is super cute...*drools* where can I get one? I am assuming its all one piece.

Three pieces, actually! The jacket is the "dark desires" jacket from the current Lip Service Blacklist line, worn over a tank top. The skirt is a "corset front skirt" from Retroscope Fashions that has been customized with an applique made from a t-shirt.

The big hair photo? It's by Libby Bullof, and she took it with my iPhone. ;)

I love the panel on the front of your skirt! Where did you get that?

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

The panel came from a t-shirt from Pirate Mod. I loved the design, but only wear t-shirts when I'm loitering around the house!

how long were you in the shower for? Last time I Shellaqued my hair it took me an extra 10 minutes to de-glue. :)

I did a shoot recently where it took *2 hours* to get everything out of my hair to where I could get my fingers through it again. It was insane... I learned that I tend to like doing my own hair better when it comes to teasing and such ~ I think coming of age in the '80's underground scene immediately gives one more "practical experience" than a lot of pros have :D

hee, I would agree with that. Good lord, that just gave me a flashback to the mini-parties we had to get READY to go out that were largely held in the bathroom, while we all teased out hair up, and sprayed the hell out it (passing cans of Aquanet Extra Super Hold) around. It's no wonder we had such a good time - we were all TOTALLY HIGH ON HAIRSPRAY FUMES before we set foot out the door.

Hee!

I found the post I made with the "preview" photos (not the ones from the actual photographer)... mind you these were taken probably two hours and a car ride after the hair was done, so it's "calmed down" ;)

You can see the pictures here:

I remember those clouds of hairspray fumes. ~whew~

I was the odd one out that and used Sebastian Shaper Plus. I remember how excited my friends were with the Aquanet "ultra" hold came out though! Much like finding the whitest face powder, it was cause for celebration :D

DAMN! That braid would REALLY add to the washout time.

Also, mighty impressive, sugar!!

I'll have to share some of the *real* photos from it with you sometime. We only got a few, but they're quite cool!

oh, and a helpful tip for the REALLY heavy hairspray like that - take a bath and relax. Let the bathwater soften the spray while you relax and soak tired muscles. ;) You can do a quick and heavy shampoo run through it to get an initial layer out, before you take a shower and really muscle it away. :)

granted, the bath first method TOTALLY REQUIRES a shower after. and *don't* scrub your skin until you are at the shower stage, no sense in doing the heavy scrub *twice*.

This one (much like [livejournal.com profile] cupcake_goth's comment below had to do more with the uber-snarled up teasing than the hairspray itself. I think had I gotten that wet before getting it somewhat comb-able, it would have formed some weird alien mass that would have had to have been cut off.

I learned that day that when I tease my hair, it's almost more like I "coax" it up (to ginormous proportions mind you ~ often larger than what you see in those photos), but what they did was more akin to snarling it up, really "ratting" it up. I later discovered a couple of the bobby pins that held the heavy grey braid in place actually broke skin... That was the first (and hopefully last) time I ever shed blood for a hairstyle. o_0

It took me about 15 minutes longer. The most difficult part wasn't the de-gluing, it was the combing out of the backcombing!

Looks like those boots have held up pretty well since their glory days. :D
