Anyway! Let's get the shameless self-promotion part out of the way first! I'm signing at The Dreaming in Seattle on Saturday, starting at 4PM. The Dreaming is a fantastic comic and games shop, and it's run by two of my favorite people. If you're in the Seattle area, please stop by!

Hey, have I mentioned that I have a story in the upcoming Vol. 2 of Steampunk Tales? (Yep, clicky-link!) Well I DO, and I'm all sorts of excited about it. (I need to finish writing part two of that story, because the deadline is fast approaching. Eeep!)

I seem to be having a bit of an emotionally fragile day, thanks to PMS and some recurring stress nightmares. (Including the one about a zombie attack that leaves The Husband bitten, infected, and telling me I have to either kill him or lock him in a room and run away. NOT a good dream.) So I'm going to do what I usually do when I'm having a bit of a low day: turn to you people! Tell me something good that's going on in your world, or post clicky-links of distraction, please?

Speaking of clicky-links of distraction: lorelei_mayrose directed me to Apatico, a store I had never seen. Oh. Oh dear. Tiny crowns to perch on my head! The Corbeau coat! (Clicky-links scattered throughout there.) Oh, so, so pretty! Curse this lack of spending money; let's keep our fingers crossed that my job hunt is fruitful very soon, because the list of Shiny Things I Want is growing at a shocking rate.

good things - I got a call yesterday from one of the places I temp'ed at earlier this year, and they want me to come back for their fall catalog (they do this catalog twice a year, I did it last spring, and am now doing it again starting the end of next week).

I will have Monday through Wednesday off next week (might be monday through thursday, I will know later today), and can come any time between sunday and wednesday to visit. :)

1. My roommate's cats have adopted me as the Backup Human, and no longer glare at me on sight. In fact, they even allow me to touch them.

2. I did not get stuck in an elevator during my morning commute.

Well, the charity screening of Serenity that I helped put on raised over 6 grand for Equality Now. We decided to keep some of that back for next year's expenses, but we are still sending over 4 grand to the charity.

Last Saturday I helped get 15 kitties adopted for the Seattle Animal Shelter. As far as I could tell, nobody who came was a zombie.

Shortly I will eat a tasty pastry from Beselu.

Good things: I think you'd like the Gatsby dress I'm making -- black dupioni silk with hot pink silk trim (all leftover from my Carnivale gown). It will feature stripes down the middle of the skirt, pieced together from scraps.

I'll take some pix prob. next week, as soon as the progress is more than a giant square of stuffs on my sewing table :-)

My boyfriend called me after he went to work this morning to tell me he is getting laid off. He is a heavy steel fabricator and he also works for Chem Dry. The steel industry in Cleveland has really shut down. This will be his fourth lay off within the last 1.5 years. Usually the factories he works in shut down and never reopen. When my boss found out about it he offered him a full time job where I work (which is much nicer than a factory and has better pay). My boss also lets us dress however we want and have wild hair (bonus points!). So it started off as a bad day but ended as a blessing in disguise =D

Yesterday, inspired by the fall Victoria, I pushed my way past the fatigue of pregnant-and-ill and made a delicious soup AND experimental new buttermilk-nutmeg cookies, all while listening to my Halloween playlist. It was lovely.

Also, my bed of red roses in the front of the house are losing their petals, shedding them in spooky, atmospheric gusts across the driveway. (Well, inasmuch as anything in Suburbia is spooky and atmospheric.)

In mixed news, this is the last weekend of the 2009 RenFaire (hooray! boo!). I enjoy it, but it's absolutely exhausting. It often reminds me of cool historical stuff I want to do, but which I don't have time for at Faire. I need some kind of anti-Faire, where I can wear my big dress, but not have the public there distracting me. :P
