(Of course, I am sure there are people I know who are chuckling and thinking "Like she needed any encouragement to post more often ...")

Anyway! Let's get the shameless self-promotion part out of the way first! I'm signing at The Dreaming in Seattle on Saturday, starting at 4PM. The Dreaming is a fantastic comic and games shop, and it's run by two of my favorite people. If you're in the Seattle area, please stop by!

Hey, have I mentioned that I have a story in the upcoming Vol. 2 of Steampunk Tales? (Yep, clicky-link!) Well I DO, and I'm all sorts of excited about it. (I need to finish writing part two of that story, because the deadline is fast approaching. Eeep!)

Aaaand the usual bits of self-promotion: Website! Book! Necklace! Body butter! (Clicky-links for everyone!)

---

I seem to be having a bit of an emotionally fragile day, thanks to PMS and some recurring stress nightmares. (Including the one about a zombie attack that leaves The Husband bitten, infected, and telling me I have to either kill him or lock him in a room and run away. NOT a good dream.) So I'm going to do what I usually do when I'm having a bit of a low day: turn to you people! Tell me something good that's going on in your world, or post clicky-links of distraction, please?

---

Speaking of clicky-links of distraction: [livejournal.com profile] lorelei_mayrose directed me to Apatico, a store I had never seen. Oh. Oh dear. Tiny crowns to perch on my head! The Corbeau coat! (Clicky-links scattered throughout there.) Oh, so, so pretty! Curse this lack of spending money; let's keep our fingers crossed that my job hunt is fruitful very soon, because the list of Shiny Things I Want is growing at a shocking rate.

good things - I got a call yesterday from one of the places I temp'ed at earlier this year, and they want me to come back for their fall catalog (they do this catalog twice a year, I did it last spring, and am now doing it again starting the end of next week).

I will have Monday through Wednesday off next week (might be monday through thursday, I will know later today), and can come any time between sunday and wednesday to visit. :)

Good things on Planet C-ko:

1. My roommate's cats have adopted me as the Backup Human, and no longer glare at me on sight. In fact, they even allow me to touch them.

2. I did not get stuck in an elevator during my morning commute.

3. The cool weather means that I get to wear my awesome shiny pink Docs every day.

4. And...I'm signing up for a sketching and watercolor painting seminar, run by the Seattle Art Museum!

Zombie Pete would be very hungry, as I'm convinced that he wouldn't think people have brains to eat to begin with.

The remodel of the house is going well. I hope to be able to move back in two to three weeks from now.

Well, the charity screening of Serenity that I helped put on raised over 6 grand for Equality Now. We decided to keep some of that back for next year's expenses, but we are still sending over 4 grand to the charity.

Last Saturday I helped get 15 kitties adopted for the Seattle Animal Shelter. As far as I could tell, nobody who came was a zombie.

Shortly I will eat a tasty pastry from Beselu.

Happiness from a new fan

I am going to redecorate and invest in lovely, goth-y pajamas based on your recommendations for Goths that are Ill. That article made my day. (Genetic disorder; I spend a lot of time in bed and making friends with my couch.)

I am also reclaiming my Goth in a grown-up way.

So you have made happy moments in my week!

Thanks,
Sab

Now I realize why I had a nightmare about being stuck in an elevator!

Good things: I think you'd like the Gatsby dress I'm making -- black dupioni silk with hot pink silk trim (all leftover from my Carnivale gown). It will feature stripes down the middle of the skirt, pieced together from scraps.

I'll take some pix prob. next week, as soon as the progress is more than a giant square of stuffs on my sewing table :-)

Beselu! The Stroppy One has just this very moment left to go get us coffee and quiche from Beselu.

Kitties! Awww, I'm glad you helped get them adopted. I love the idea of volunteering at an animal shelter, but I fear I'd get all possessive and weepy over the critters.

My boyfriend called me after he went to work this morning to tell me he is getting laid off. He is a heavy steel fabricator and he also works for Chem Dry. The steel industry in Cleveland has really shut down. This will be his fourth lay off within the last 1.5 years. Usually the factories he works in shut down and never reopen. When my boss found out about it he offered him a full time job where I work (which is much nicer than a factory and has better pay). My boss also lets us dress however we want and have wild hair (bonus points!). So it started off as a bad day but ended as a blessing in disguise =D

To cheer you up, this is a trailer for the movie RoboGeisha. You can't watch this cinematographic abortion and not laugh!

I discovered you through the Spotlight . . . and I am ever so glad I did! You are a lovely person! I got your book over Amazon.ca witha money gift I got as a 2 year wedding anaversery gift. I am looking forward to reading it!

Kittens, puppies and bunnies oh my!: http://cuteoverload.com/

Chock full of snark: http://www.somethingpositive.net/

I got a parcel in the mail form New Zealand full of yummy snacks!

People at work seem to really like me.

15 days until Tornto Ontario Canada's Fan expo. Sooo many geeky things! And I may end up being a booth babe for the Troma booth! Yaaay!

My husband can spend the night at home tonight!

I lost weight recently! Yayfor that! I can fit into more gothy pretties now.

You book will arrive in the mail soon, joy of joys!

I hope you feel better my dear, *lond distance hugs* till later!

Yaaaaay to you for having an AWSOME boss! *claps hands*

I saw that trailer a wile ago . . . it is so silly! I love it!

Also, www.crappytaxidermy.com , never fails to make me laugh! But I love taxidermy, especially when it goes horribly wrong. It is just full of cross eyed, lumpy, toothless animals <3

If you haven't seen this etsy shop (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5140244), you definitely should check it out for some comfort coveting. I am very envious of her caplets! (And sadly, much to broke to buy one myself.)

This is why I love the Feral Cat Clinic. It fills my needs for volunteering with animals without triggering my desire to bond with them (usually).

September fashion magazines are coming out. I don't know about you, but those never fail to cheer me up. (Plus you can laugh at the mail carriers the week Vogue comes out, but we don't admit to that.)

From: [identity profile] prettyshrub.livejournal.com

There is a certain longing to take the kitties all home... I just remind myself how cranky my current cats would be if I brought anyone else home.

From: [identity profile] bork.livejournal.com

The volunteering thing is very hard, because indeed you get attached to the little critters. I survive, because where I lived in Everett (and now) has a strict "no more pets!" policy.

But yes. The weepy happens sometimes - but you also see things that are just incredible and heartwarming.
