Goddess you are frakin' adorable! I can't even hold back. I'm a big lurker but really... I can't hold it in, you're ADORABLE. I LOVE IT.
If I wasn't so lazy, your style is something I'd gladly adopt for myself. In fact, until finding you recently, I never even thought of Goth in the terms that you do. I just thought of it more along the Industrial, black, gloomy, (dare I say boring?) style but you... you're adorable and your style is phenomenal.
Actually, the shirt is something I made out of two identical striped silk shirts I found at Goodwill. One bravely sacrificed itself to become ruffles. :-)
The cuffs are actually detachable wristlets worn over the cuffs of the shirt. They're black lace over white satin, have a gentle point, and snap closed.
I have a question: what does someone like you do for a living? do you get to get dressed up and be 'gothic' on the work premises? Did you ever get discriminated on while working or being "the odd one" did you ever get people in your community treating you like you were a freak or some kind of immature child with some sort of fantasy world you live in? I used to be quite gothic but I gave up on the lifestyle because of all the stereotypes and ill times i had experienced.
and theres a strong part of me who wishes she could be the gothic-corset queen.
Just curious. You've got such a grand style and I feel proud that you seem to have overcome these kinds of things ^_^ Good for you. I feel a bit inspired looking at your stuff to try to get a few goth-style modeling opps
I'm an editor in the tech industry. I'm currently between jobs, but my appearance has NEVER been an issue for any of the companies or people I've worked for. In fact, the way I look has helped, because it certainly makes me memorable. ;-)
Hello :) im Robyn but just call me Roo i think your gothic charm school is amazing, though i am not a goth i have <3 for goths, i love the dresses ^^ i like to dress emo-ish but i do tend to go to the gothis side from time to time...by the way your very pretty :) I hope that i get to talk to you im new to livejournal soo your my first friend ive made...hopefully! thanks for reading this Roo x x x
I just friended you, hoping you'll friend me back. As it happens, I was so charmed by your "spotlighted" site today that I blogged about you at some length. It's a bit snarky, but I hope you don't find it in bad taste. You seem a terrific writer, and your life seems a constant whirl of goth-festing -- yet I note you're married and evidently can combine the various currents in your personal existence. And then there's the BOOK! I envy you the concentration and talent it takes to do one. (I've always aspired, but it's likely not IN me...)
I never thought of a Goth style the way you do, I always thought it was some sort of dark, gloomy and dreary cult-like society that turned their face down at people who wished to explore 'their world' (awful explanation, I know >_<). It's something I've always been curious about, and I've always wanted to 'adopt the style' (is that right to say?).
I just found you recently, and was wondering, could I add you as a friend and continue stalking your journal? :3

You're very lucky to be able to wear something like this during the summer months. I think I'd die of heat-stroke!
