Huh. With the exception of the signing at The Dreaming on Saturday (starts at 4PM! If you're in the Seattle-ish area, you should show up!), the Gothic Charm School book tour is ... done. Mind you, if some event somewhere contacts me and says "We'd love to have you as a guest, here let us cover your travel expenses!", then I will gleefully pack the giant suitcase and Go Forth. But as it stands now, the tour has wrapped up.
The book tour, as scramble-y and hectic as it was at times, was an amazing experience. Meeting people who like my work! Seeing friends, making new friends! Tea parties! Thank you to everyone who came to an event, and a HUGE thank you to everyone who put time and effort into helping make those events successful. The Flickr pool of book tour photos is here (clicky-link, of course), and if you have photos from any of the Gothic Charm School events, please add them there!
Now that the book tour is done, I will be focusing on writing new posts for Gothic Charm School, writing my blog for the Lip Service Webzine, working on the proposal for the next book project (eeek!), and oh right, job-hunting. (Anyone need an editor?)

Vampires. Right. We finished watching season 1 of True Blood last night. I enjoyed the show far more than I enjoyed the books. I am hoping that season 2 has more of a focus on the vampire side of the world, and less of Sookie being a twit. Yes, I would be quite happy to watch the Eric & Pam show, why do you ask? (I suspect that I'm going to be watching a double-feature of Near Dark and 30 Days of Night in the near future, because I can. I prefer my vampires to be menacing, not whiny.)
I also have a whole stack of new-to-me, possibly trashy, vampire books to read, thanks to the book tour stop at Powell's. Really, I do read other things besides paranormal genre fiction. I just really like paranormal genre fiction.

- Review Lip Service blog, upload it to their servers.
- Start writing this week's GCS post.
- Go to Fluevog store, wince, and go into debt to purchase the boots I've been coveting for ages. (Boooooots!)
- Go to the MAC store in U-Village for a product launch event. Try very hard not to purchase new lipstick, as I don't really need any, and I'll have just spent a shocking amount of money on shiny new boots.
Aaaaand, coming soon to this LJ: hey, I haven't done any Shallow Fashion Details posts in a while, have I? I should. Oooh, and maybe a post of clicky-links of coveting! Everyone likes window-shopping, right? (Just nod in agreement here, folks.)

Re: Vampire Books
Forever.
That’s the response Ben Gongliewski receives, when he asks Miranda Dandridge how long she’s been a vampire. He doesn’t expect the word forever in her reply, but then again, Ben never imagined meeting vampires, let alone demons and werewolves, during his time as a Resistance worker in World War II Poland. Far from being horrified, Ben discovers that Miranda and her friends have very useful … talents … especially when it comes to saving children from concentration camps. After all, in these desperate times, while the line between good and evil is clear, the one between heroes and monsters is very, very blurred.
The last thing Miranda wants at this point in her immortal life is a human lover, but as she and Ben perform rescue after daring rescue, she can’t help but be drawn to his passion to save his fellow Jews. As the War draws to a close and Miranda must chose her love for Ben or her duty to her race, Ben is blindsided by a betrayal that no one sees coming. This leads to a danger in which all hell is about to break loose … literally…
Hope you like reading it!

Well, like no doubt many others, I saw your lj on the spotlight list this week, and came over because I really like the idea of a Goth writer who focuses on manners and courtesy. I was briefly Goth about three years ago, back in high school (oh dear, my age is showing!) but even though I never stopped loving the music, the movies, the books, or really the aesthetic in general, I eventually stopped dressing the part or trying to make Gothic friends, because I just couldn't manage to be rude enough. None of the other Goths at my school would talk to me, because I dared to smile and pay people compliments. I was even (gasp!) polite to the teachers! That last one always baffled me the most. These were the people in charge of our grades; why wouldn't I want to be polite and respectful to them?
Eventually I just got tired of all the scowls and rudeness, and went back to hanging out with the Drama Club and artists. I wish now that I could remember the names of some of those people I tried to make friends with, back then -- I'd definitely mail each of them a copy of your book!

*ahem - you would not like Christine Feehan. Trust me on this*
They are not vampire enough for you.
I totally recommend Greywalker, Poltergeist, Underground and the very amazing Vanished by Kat Richardson - and why yes I own them would you like to borrow?

*hearts Eric* At least they remodeled his hair, he was looking a bit cheese.
That you know Fluevog is ridiculously cool! I only *cough* discovered you today thanks to LJ, and it's all inspiring what you've donw with the Gothic Charm School. I'm starting my own retro one/Victorian inspired one, and so you're an inspiration.

Although I enjoy a good love story with a vamp involved every once in a while, I prefer a good ferocity behind my bloodsuckers.
But then again, this is probably why I prefer werewolves. *chuckles*
Also, I know you probably get this all the time, but I am a new reader to your blog/livejournal and just wanted to say congratulations on your book and tour. A woman of your stature deserves such wonderful things.

You don't know me, but anyone who would rather that the whole series was based on Eric & Pam and not SOOKEH and BI~YUL being incredibly annoying, does, in my opinion, deserve a comment telling her that GOSH DOES SOMEONE AGREE WITH HER ♥
Oh, and so far I am really enjoying season 2. By saying any more I would be ruining it for you, so... Enjoy~ ♥
