Oh, yay! I have to say, I opened a box at work and found a stack of your shiny, lovely new book inside! I made sure to place them at the front of my bookstore, on the "New Paperbacks!" wall. I am gonna flog the hell outta your book. I bought myself a copy, then placed one in the hands of my sweet as pie mall goth coworker ("Here sweetie, you could use this") and she bought it too, enchanted and delighted with it.
I don't know who you are, but you were totally talked about at the post-signing dinner/dessert party! Were your ears burning? (It was all good, I promise.)
::blushes:: Heavens! That's incredible! I will forever be curious to what was said! I'll have to pay more attention to the feelings in my ears in future. :D
It was an excellent reading. They had to keep adding chairs for the people that turned out. I think they added at least four rows of chairs more than they had originally anticipated.
And the first woman who won the original art? So deserved it just on the basis of her outfit.
The Q&A went on and on because they just didn't want to turn her loose. There was tremendous fondness emanating from the crowd, far beyond her friends in attendance.
I unfortunately have no full shots of my outfit from that day. :[ spectralbovine got some random shots of me, though here! http://pics.livejournal.com/spectralbovine/gallery/0001r25p?page=2 I'm in the blue striped top. What you can't see: a belt of sorts with pinstripes, buttons and a fit "vest" bottom to break up the ensemble, and my lovely Retroscope Fashions bustle skirt that can be seen at my LJ if one is bored enough. ;]
I had an amazing time meeting with you, hearing you read from your lovely book, and spending the evening with everyone/making new friends. Have a good trip to LA!
