This coming Saturday is the Vespertine Winter Ball down in PDX, where I am performing emcee duties again. I will be wearing ivory (ivory what is yet to be determined, as there's a chance the Infamous BlueJay will get the ivory brocade frock coat done in time), with strands and strands of glass pearls, and a crown of white roses with crystal accents. REAL roses, because the StuntHusband has kindly agreed to stop at a grocery store during the day so I can pick up a bouquet of white roses to quickly floral-tape onto the pre-made wire crown base.

(I find floral crowns to be a simple thing make, but they always look so fancy! So I'm ridiculously fond of them.)

It's going to be a super-quick trip: we leave Saturday morning, the event is Saturday night, and then I head home on Sunday. Which means I probably won't have a chance to go visit my favorite hipster foodie shop, The Meadow. Look, how else should I refer to a store that sells only specialty salts, specialty chocolates, and a dizzying array of cocktail bitters? I love the place, but I acknowledge it is Super-Hipster.

... I want to go to that shop, but/and you realize their mission statement sounds like a line from Hannibal, right?

I mean, I know who I'm talking to and that that's a feature. IJS.
