I've hit the itchy, molting stage of the tattoo healing. There is not enough lotion in the world.

My fiancee is at this stage with the touch-up for her tattoo. She's been using coconut oil as a moisturizer, as she's seen it recommended several places, and it's less odorous than sunscreen, and less greasy. She wears sunscreen if going out, but for indoors moisturizing, it seems to work well (and smells good!).

I'll be getting my first done later in the month (I have a personalized version of the Kushiel's rose planned, which means a lot to me for many reasons). Since I normally take baths, and I understand this is a no-no, this is going to be interesting. >_>

i hadn't heard of coconut oil used for healing a tattoo, but you know, it makes a lot of sense. it has some mild antibiotic properties, melts easily, and *does* smell good.

i've had really good results with cocoa butter...using the stick form is really convenient!

have you tried cocoa butter? the pure stuff, no additives. i've used that through 13 tattoos, i've got the same lovely pale skin that you do, and i've not ever had any itching or peeling.

*hugs and hugs* good healing to you, lovely!

I just got more ink. I'm in the burning, oh God! stage. It takes up my entire forearm.
