2014 was a year of extremes, good and bad.

- Job. I spent the first half of the year unemployed and anxious, and then BOOM! A former manager contacted me out of the blue and offered me a really good job. I work from home, my co-workers think I'm awesome, and I am regularly told I'm doing a great job.

- Travel, whoo, travel! I was a guest at a first year con in Kansas, and had a lovely time. I went to VMB and Vespertine down in PDX. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of some friends, I was able to attend Bats Day at Disneyland! (OMG DISNEYLAND.) But I had to cancel on a con at the last minute because of a health emergency with Dad, and the RealHusband spent a month in the UK, helping his mum clear through the family home.

- Writing. I'm still updating Gothic Charm School, the book is still in print after FIVE YEARS, and I finally earned out my advance! My agent gave me fantastic feedback on the fiction project ... and I need to sit down and finish the second draft. While taking notes on a completely different fiction project that is lurking around my brain.

- Health. Meh. I have good days, I have bad days. That's really all I can say.

- Fannish obsessions. HELLO PENNY DREADFUL, YOU ARE THE SHOW OF MY HEART. Plus Hannibal, but Penny Dreadful is pretty much everything I ever wanted in a show.

- Family (blood and chosen). Dad is healthy, and has a wonderful ladylove. My assorted godchildren are smart, charming, and crazy. My friends and I have been taking turns propping each other up during various stressful moments, which is as it should be.

May 2015 be much kinder and gentler with us all.

I would never have known about Penny Dreadful if not for your tumblr posts about it, Auntie Jilli. I'm honestly surprised I've not seen many more posts from others celebrating its glory.
