The long skirt edition!

I blame jola for this, because she's been posting clicky-links of awesome skirts, but I am starting to think about adding some long skirts back into wardrobe rotation. (If you listen, you can hear the Stroppy One cheering, because he thinks my long skirts are far more elegant than my usual knee-length ones. He thinks the knee-length skirts are cute, but long ones are elegant, and he loves elegant.)

So! When the weather becomes a bit more autumnal, I may pull some of my long skirts (and petticoats!) out of retirement. Plus I can wear my knee-length skirts *over* the longer skirts, for extra flounce! However, the new skirts I'm ogling:

The "Tigris" skirt and the "Petticoat Asinina" from Somnia Romantica. Actually, I want everything from this store. EVERYTHING.

The Gloria di Notte skirt by kambriel. Look at that fabric! ::swoons::

The Gothic Aristocrat chiffon skirt from Retroscope Fashions.

I would wear this over another skirt, of course. But it's too small for my hips, and Dark Fusion Boutique doesn't offer it in a larger size. Woe!

Oh, and fellow Eldergoths: remember those long black lace skirts we all had in the 90s? The broomstick skirts that were full enough to wear over a petticoat (if you removed the inner liner/slip)? They live in the "vintage" section on Etsy, and almost all of them are tagged with the "grunge" keyword. Some with descriptions of Can be worn as a strapless minidress!!! ;) This pains me.

I think we all want that Kambriel skirt. Saving for "the big trip" or more Kambriel pieces would be mine. The Jola links are always dangerous to click.

the Retroscope Fashions Skirt does remind me that I have a Too Long skirt in my closet that fits, but needs some embelishment that will bring it up quite a bit. (and yes, even over a petticoat it is still *too long*.)

But, until I can get my sewing machine repaired, I am relegated to all handsewing so it is on the "once I am done with my other sewing projects" pile.

1) I'm terribly amused that the Stroppy One has such a strong opinion about hemlines, considering how much he disdains so many of your tastes. When he accuses you of marrying him for his accent, you can reply that he married you for your wardrobe.
2) I've mostly stayed away from Etsy. I'd either find it overly tempting or horrifying, and I don't even ave the heightened sensitivities of an Eldergoth.

I recently noticed that our ancient and lovely broomstick skirts of yore are back in fashion - I saw a large crop of them at Wal-Mart while looking for Monster High dolls. I was so tempted, as they were something like $7, but given that I still actually own mine from high school, I resisted. :D

I adored this post. You should do one with shoes that you like. :D God, I miss alt.gothic.fashion.
