Goodbye 2011.

There are a lot of year-end memes out there, and I'm not doing ANY of them. 2011 was, with no hyperbole, the worst year of my life. Death, illness, unemployment, stress, and depression were the themes.

But there were some good things about 2011, too. I was able to spend more time with my loved ones, even the ones who don't live nearby. I went to Disneyland and the Tim Burton exhibit. I made a lot of progress on the fiction project I'm working on, and my agent is excited to see it.

But on the whole? I have never been more glad to see a year end. Next week, I am burning the 2011 calendar, because I really do need to see this year go up in flames. Literally.

May 2012 be kinder to us all. Much, MUCH kinder.

*Nods* I know, Sweetie. I feel the same way about 2011, and I've noticed that just about everyone on my f-list has had a really painful year. The year seemed all about loss: losing those we love... losing jobs. I'm sure that there is some numerological reason for that; and therein lies hope. For if it WAS numerological, then the year is over and the new one may be much kinder to us. In fact, I'm SURE it will be. I have a feeling that it will be about transformation.

Cheers to this! I, along with so many people I know, have had such a tough year and I've taken to telling everyone that I (along with many others) are not giving 2012 a chance to be horrible, difficult or even stressful. This year is about starting over and leaving those things that are finished be over so that the best things to come can get started already!

Yes, this. 2011 was a horrible year for everyone I know. Mostly it was "cancer for everyone!" around here, but a few people got even worse stuff than that. I figure it's so we look forward to the Apocalypse.

I am sorry to hear that you had a hard year. 2011 was difficult for me, too. Burning your calendar sounds like a good idea...I think I will do the same.

I have no idea WHAT it was about 2011 that decided to make my life a living Hell, but I have been looking forward to 2012 ever since 2011 started. I'll help you build the bonfire nad even siphon gas from my car to help light it for you. (Yes, I've done that ONCE in my life. Yuck! >P ) Everyone of my friends and aquaintences have said the same thing about last year: Glad it's over.

Here's to 2012 and all the good it will bring because we all have had the worst. We've hit rock bottom so there's nowhere else to go but up. :D
