If that dratted evil Biaxin antibiotic has also made me mildly allergic to my hair dye, I am going to be livid. My scalp usually doesn't sting when I dye my roots, dammit!

... oooh, Renfield the iPod just shuffled to Marian by the Sisters of Mercy. Good job, Renfield!

I like!

If the regrowth keeps coming in silver, I'm going to be really tempted to ask Daysha to add more -- but I'm scared my scalp will freak out again. Maybe better leave it alone for a bit after chopping it?

Sadly allergies can come on as you get older too. Hair dyes never used to bother my scalp and now they do. It's a pain.

It's true - sad to say. My friend Katie used to dye her hair but a few years ago she suddenly had a bad allergic reaction to it. It took time to come on and her whole face ended up being swollen.

We go through metabolic changes at different times in our lives.

Hopefully that is not the case here and it's just a temporary issue that goes away...

Don't you use henna? I didn't know anyone was allergic to that!

I used to use henna & indigo, but I went back to chemical dyes because I just wasn't getting a long-lasting blue-black color. I want my hair *unnaturally* blue-black, dammit! :)

would a manic-panic style blue give a good overlay to a henna black? also, the girls at Lush said my chemical blue-black looked like their fresh henna -- mine just lasts longer.

You may not have (hopefully!) actually developed an allergy; the antibiotic may just have made your skin sensitive, an effect that should go away when you stop taking the miserable stuff.

Hair dye allergy sucks; I had to stop putting the black stripes in my hair a few years ago because I developed one. Thankfully, I don't react to reds, just the black. Yet.

My hairdresser uses BES hair color and I have found it very gentle compared to other brands... No burning, and no strong odor.

I hope it's not an allergy, that would be truly annoying.

Also, I picked up "Anno-Dracula" based on your rec and it's awesome. I love all the name dropping. :-) Oh, and the bit where they have to set the bones in Genevieve's neck....

Oh noes! Hope it's okay. Maybe it just needs some more time to flush out of your system.

*fingers crossed*

You might try to find ammonia free dye? Not sure what kind you use now but I've always had major scalp irritation from regular dye and the ammonia free stuff is a miracle for me. I go to a salon but I've found the ammonia free stuff at like Sally stores before.
