I ... I don't really like to cook, that much. I know how to (unlike, say, MY SPOUSE), I just don't like doing it. There's all the planning, and the prep, and the clean-up. Ugh.
I LOVE food. And I am always impressed by my friends who love cooking and do it well. I just know that I am not one of those people.
This means that when Heather, our dietitian friend who has been crashing with us for a few months and who LOVES to cook, leaves the nest and sets up her new apartment? I am going to be a very woeful cupcake. Because I will have to start cooking again.

And yet, I really like baking, despite the fact it's just as messy and requires just as much prep, if not more, should I be feeling ambitious. Maybe it's because there's yummy cookie dough or icing or batter to be sampled during the process.
Fortunately my husband likes and is good at cooking. (But is hopeless at baking. He's made numerous attempts at pancake batter from scratch, and finally gave up and started buying Bisquick in a jar, just add water.)
