By now you've all seen the news about the LJ lay-offs. Backing up/archiving one's LJ seems like a very good idea, so I have a couple of questions about such things:

- What backup/archiving tool works best with Macs?

- Is there a way to save the icons on posts, too?

I suspect that LJ is NOT going to die or go away. Maybe it will be sold to another company. Anyway, I'm not panicking, but I do want to archive what I've got here.

---

I am not at the office today. I am home sick. And I tell you what, that's the last time I'm going to eat at that particular sushi place on the Eastside. (The sushi restaurant that is part of Uwajimaya in Redmond, for those who want to know.)

---

In addition to feeling physically unwell, I am having a bit of a low day. No, I have no idea why, and there's no real reason for it. Tell me cheering things or link to interesting and fun diversions?

I am going to set up a wordpress blog on my own domain (sub-domain rather, and use http://codex.wordpress.org/Importing_Content to import my content from LJ.

Then I will post to my Wordpress blog, and will have the LJ Crosspost plug-in (http://lj-xp.com/) post the article to LJ automatically.

LJBook.com, is a browser based service to archive your LJ. It publishes it in PDF format. Unfortunately, since the layoff news, it's been hit hard by everybody wanting to back their LJs up.

cheering things - the snow has melted away, HURRAH!

Alas, I am still wrestling with the cold presently, so that is about the extent of cheer I have today. at least so far. Blah.

ummmm.... I love you. :)

Oh hey - let me know what you find out please because it probably makes more sense for me to back-up LJ to my Mac rather than my old PC. I'm not panicking either but I want to be prepared for any eventuality.

1) Aw. Get well soon.
2) That's good to know about the sushi joint. I probably would have ended up there again eventually.
3) Cheering thing? Hmm. How about hunting for another earth begins in earnest (http://planetquest.jpl.nasa.gov/Kepler/kepler_index.cfm)? (Clicky link!)
4) Witter!

I must be the only mammal in the world who hasn't heard anything about LJ layoffs.

Cheering things: I am actually having a pretty good day and am feeling happy! Gabriel slept curled up in my arm for about 90 minutes the other night - the first time he's done that.

Feel better (and cheerier) soon!

I have flamenco shoes! (I doubt that cheers anyone other than me and maybe my teacher, though.)
