I stayed home sick yesterday, thanks to being unable to wake up with bonus migraine-esque symptoms. Since I had missed fun social things on Saturday thanks to muscle spasms in my shoulders and neck, it was obviously time to go see the chiropractor. Who poked at my neck and back and made a mildly astonished noise. 10 minutes and some horrible crunchy noises later, everything was better. Apparently not only was I suffering from my usual trick of the vertebrae right at my skull being out of whack, but I also had a rib out of place. How I managed all of this, I have no idea.

Hey, let's do that book meme thingamie that resurfaces every now and then. I think I have different books on my desk this time around.

* Grab the nearest book.
* Open the book to page 56.
* Find the fifth sentence.
* Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
* Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.

"The dentist and the robot don't care to foxtrot." - The Deluxe Transitive Vampire

OR

"I fear it was no dream, and must act on this surmise." - Dracula

I have been told by several people that I need to visit a Forever 21 store. I wonder if their version of a size L blazer would fit me. If it does, I'm doomed, because there are supposed to be a lot of stripey blazers in stock at the moment. Oh dear oh dear.

Forever 21 is really hit and miss. They change out something like 40% of their stock weekly and have a really strict return policy. I've gotten cute stuff there, especially cute and cheap necklaces, but their blazers have never fitted me at all. Their L is like a regular M, really. And they don't go to XL.

Drat. I haven't seen any other b&w or black and grey striped blazers around.

Forever 21 sizes are small - smaller than H&M, which means I rarely can squeeze my shoulders into anything tailored. Also, the finishing on most of their pieces is Not Good.

I can put up with Not Good finishing at those prices, but the sizing worries me. I'm smaller through the shoulders than you, but would Forever 21 stuff fit my *waist*?

Ooh. Very nice quotes. Glad to hear you're feeling better. But, since I already posted an entry in my journal, I'll post the sentence of my nearest book.

"No, I didn't understand it at this moment." - The Vampire Lestat

"Inverted pleats at the centre back give shape and fullness to the skirt." -from 'Nineteenth-Century Fashion in Detail', from a description of a dress of woven striped silk dating back to 1805. As you can probably tell, I'm posting from my workroom. ;)

Ok you are like the 10th friend who is dealing with migraine crap. Including me, who is on the other side of this enormous country, so we can't really blame the weather...

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Oh, my migraines are entirely triggered by skeletal and muscular issues. Going to the chiropractor fixed things for me. I wish it was that easy of a solution for the rest of you!

From: [identity profile] theblackdeer.livejournal.com

Mine are too, and they were worse before I had the fusion surgery on my neck. I do think a chiro would help, but I am sans insurance at the moment.

I was just looking at the forever 21 site and don't see anything that requires your attention.
Like... ever.

But there are striiiiiipey blaaaazers. I neeeeeeds striiiiipey blaaaaazers. I do!

then I suggest you consider MAKING them, miss. Well... after your birthday, of course. (not for gifting surprises or anything, but because your editor likely had no clue what that date actually is).

At one point I was going to give you a copy of the Transitive Vampire book for a holiday gift, but of course *knew* you'd already have a copy of your own ;)

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Hee! I also have a couple of other grammar books by the same author, but they're not quite as dizzyingly fun as Transitive Vampire.

I've got "The Disheveled Dictionary" as well... the clip art they use is fantastic. I really enjoy playing spot the clip art that's appeared in 90's goth zines ;)

If I had a kid, they'd totally be home schooled with these!
