I just finished a grilled cheese sandwich made with aged cheddar, and a big bowl of locally-foraged salad greens topped with some olive oil and champagne vinaigrette. As I was preparing this, I thought "[livejournal.com profile] domestinatrix would be proud of me."

Okay, not as proud of me as she would be as if, say, I started making jam, or bread from scratch. But those are Her Things, and I am quite happy to trade sewing for them.

mmmmm, grilled cheese sammich.

Simple Food is Good Food.

For dinner tonight, I sauteed chicken and baby spinach in garlic and hot pepper infused olive oil, then added some tube pesto and an egg. After mixing it all together, I'm now having it with vermicelli. Yum.

And you can have alllllll the sewing there is. I'll stick with weird cooking, and reverse engineering your purses.

As I was preparing this, I thought "domestinatrix would be proud of me."

I thought of this when I told a friend with an amazing kitchen that I was going to come over, cook she and her husband dinner and maybe leave. [livejournal.com profile] domestinatrix would be proud of me. Except I am not having mending done. I fail at barter. I just want to play in a fun kitchen and give my friends a treat.

Barter is on the current list of my favorite things ever.

You should come play kitchen in Seattle!

That does sound nice. I was going to make myself a grilled cheese sandwich today, but then my tummy got hijacked by hormones demanding more noodles instead. I've apparently hit the time of year when salad starts sounding like my favorite thing again, because ever description of a decent salad that i read starts me salivating.

I'm sure you could make jam if you wanted to, but i hope that you won't ever want to all that seriously because it would upset the whole economy.

In other news, i'm working on leg warmers with buttons. So far i think i have them pretty much figured out, i just need to get my hands on some buttons, and i need to make the next pair out of better yarn that i'll enjoy more than the crapacryl i'm currently testing the theory with. I'm not sure yet whether they'll work out to be practical to sell to strangers at fairs, but i'm thinking about arranging for a limited edition to be available upon request. I think i've also figured out the best way to add button holes and buttons to those mitts i've been working on.

You're right, my making jam would not work with the local economy. I'll stick to threading sergers.

So, I should bring the button box to the next S&B? I can do that.

Extra buttons would be so very much appreciated.

Serger threading is a highly specialized and greatly valued skill. The only way that we're going to be able to progress as a society and pull ourselves out of the Dark Age that arose after the Industrial Apocalypse is if brave citizens such as yourself take it upon themselves to focus on these mad skillz necessary to improve the quality of life for us all.
