I've pretty much stopped drinking coffee. I will occasionally have a cup if I'm someplace that I know has fabulous coffee, but for the most part, I have become one of those people that laments that the coffee never tastes as good as it smells. Which means my collection of extravagantly-flavored teas is growing, my current favorites being the Mighty Leaf Chocolate Truffle Teas (Clicky-link!) I realized this morning that I really want to mix up a chocolate rose black tea, which should be easy enough; I have chocolate truffle tea, I have rose tea. Mixing them together is not rocket science, but probably shouldn't be attempted before I have my first pot of tea of the day.

Speaking of teapots: I have a plain white teapot sitting on my bookshelf at work. I would like to take it home and paint a skull & crossbones in some sort of pretty scrollwork frame on it*. Since this would be on the outside of the teapot, I don't have to worry about food-safe paints, just ones that would stay on. Anyone have any suggestions for what paints I should be looking at?

Shallow Fashion Details!

  • Black leather granny boots, laced with burgundy organza ribbon.

  • Pink & black stripy tights (worn over a second pair of pink tights for additional warmth).

  • Black knee-length full skirt with frilly lace trim, worn over knee-length pink & black petticoats.

  • Black high-collar blouse with a lace panels edged with pink braid.

  • Black shawl-collared waistcoat with pink buttons.

  • Hair pulled back into a high ponytail with lace-festooned ragties.

  • Pink armwarmers with black skull & crossbones on the hands, trimmed with pink and black ruffles.

  • Jewelry: the usual antique pocket watch necklace, the usual rings, and a three-strand vintage faux-pearl choker with this batwinged cameo pendant hanging from it on a pink satin bow. (Clicky-link!)

  • Makeup: YSL Touch Eclat concealer, translucent powder, champagne eyeshadow (from Alima, I think) with cupcake pink eyeshadow at the outer corners (the pink is by MAC, and I don't remember which color it is off the top of my head), black liquid liner, black DiorShow mascara, and NARS Scarlet Empress lipstick. And my glasses.

I'm apparently craving black waistcoats. I keep windowshopping for them, but haven't found a lot I like. I mean, there's this one from Lip Service (clicky-link!), but I keep waffling about it.

*Oh, okay, fine. I would sweet-talk [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage into painting the skull & crossbones and scrollwork bits, because he's the one with art skills. I can, if I'm lucky and concentrate really hard, draw stick people. And one particular type of cute monster.

Granted, it was many years ago, but in downtown Edmonds there was a little tea shop which sold lighthouse knicknacks and teas. They had a wonderful chocolate rose blend called "Valintines blend".

You might see if they're still there.

I -think- they were on main street, but don't quote me on that at all. I do know it wasn't the wooden spoon. I also know it wasn't one of the old mill town shops. It was in downtown Edmonds proper, but up the hill from the fountain, not on the sound side of the fountain.

Past that- I can't recall 100%, I apologise. Growing up there I never paid attention to street names and the like, so it never really was something I needed to know.

I know! It is also available in that pink plaid I liked, but the Stroppy One HAS VIEWS about plaid.

Oh oh. About that (ahem) Victoria's Secret fragrance? It's YUMMY. And chocolatey. And according to the reviews on MUA, the lotion has some staying power indeed.

Hi Jilli!

Wanted to link you to a pic of the Sweeny Todd at the Con a couple of weeks ago: http://www.blackholeofphotography.com/gallery/v/sfcons/2008Confusion/kjn2008_00202.jpg.html

And did you see the bat-lock I linked to in Bitches yesterday?

Also also - can you email me your measurements?

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

That's a good Sweeney Todd costume! (And the guy looks vaguely familiar to me, which is kinda weird.)

No, I did not see the bat lock you linked to! Must go back and find it.

Measurements? Um, okay. I'll send you mail in a bit.

The guy looks somewhat like Christian from Deathline International.

The waistcoat is cute and I think it'd suit you, but $46 strikes me as pricey for what I know of Lip Service's construction and durability.

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

That's why I keep waffling on it. But, it is from the Blacklist sub-line, and the construction for that line has been (shockingly!) good.

Oh ye of little faith. Of course someone has already made a suitable teapot for the rest of us.

Oh! Skully teapot! Well look at that. I should have realized someone out there would already be selling them.

Adagio Teas has a Valentines Blend (http://www.adagio.com/flavors/valentines.html) (clicky link) that is purported to taste like chocolate-covered strawberries, and it looks like there may be rose petals in it as well.

China paint: www.dickblick.com/zz029/08/

From: [identity profile] dark-phoenix54.livejournal.com

While china paint is best for ceramics, regular artists acrylics- the thick kind, not the really thinned out ones, will work. You need to heat set them in a slow oven for I forget how long.

From: [identity profile] staxxy.livejournal.com

as has been pointed out, you use ceramics paints. (not to be confused with *glaze*).

they carry it at Michaels in Lynnwood.

It is possible they have it at the book store at the UW. And they might have it at some of the bigger art supply stores.

oh, bless your heart. Darling husband just let me place an order with the Mighty Leaf, so a sampler of the choccie teas and some Other Things are on the way to me. :D

Yay gentle caffeine delivery.
