Well, more like sickcouch, but that doesn't have the same Victorian-esque and consumptive ring to it.

• Dear staxxy: the big bag of "Feel Better" tea that you made me a while ago is a lifesaver. It's making my throat hurt less. Thank you.



• Dear Amazon.com: thank you for delivering my eagerly-awaited copy of The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray to me today. If I'm going to be stuck at home sick, at least I have a new book to read.



• Dear kitties of the household:
one of you furry creatures had better curl up on my feet and keep me company. It's in the contract, dammit. EDIT: Apparently the boykitties got the message, because both of them are curled up on my feet now. Trinian, Queen of Fuzzwumpia, is snoozing on the other sofa.


• And finally, dear stroppy_baggage: thank you for taking such good care of me.

Ugh. When standing up and making a cup of tea makes one feel dangerously woozy and tired, things are Not Good.

I hate it when the little buggers don't pay attention to their end of the deal! Really, they have so few contractual obligations: look cute, be warm & cuddly, comfort the afflicted, & be the occasional butt of our jokes. And for all that, they get a roof over their heads, plenty of food, & an endless stream of skritches.

I'd never heard of Libba Bray until she was mentioned in Literary. The Wikipedia entries make this trilogy look kind of interesting. I didn't look closely to avoid any spoilers.

Oh noes! What kind of consumption are you suffering from? It seems there are several kinds to choose from at the moment. Maybe you could swaddle yourself in something cozy and step outside to get some sun for a few minutes and make some vitamins before it starts to rain for another 111 days. (Yes, cover your dewy complexion, just get out there.) Get better soon!

I am happy to hear that the tea is doing you lots of good. It is the one thing I would recommend to you. :)

I hope we are both feeling better quickly. I am not counting on feeling better tomorrow though. I think that my morning today proved that I am a LOT sicker than I thought, and I would be too crushed to expect to be well and discover I am not on my birthday. :) So I am expecting to be ill, and planning to stay home and chill, maybe take a bath or something.
