So, I may be the owner of a piano.

The people across the street tore down their garage today, and left a piano sitting in their driveway, along with a heap of other things. It was still there when I got home from work. [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage was, understandably, a little apprehensive of just wandering off with a piano, even if it did seem to be abandoned. But he went and talked to one of our next-door neighbors, who very reasonably pointed out that if the people across the street HAD wanted to keep the piano, they wouldn't have left it sitting outside all day and into the night.

(The owners of the garage, and presumably the piano, were not around at the time. Otherwise I obviously would have gone and asked them what they were going to do with the piano, instead of just batting my eyelashes at [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage. But, it's supposed to rain tonight! If the owners do want it back, I've at least made sure it is protected from the weather, right?)

So. I now have a piano in our garage. It is mostly in tune. Once I figure out where I want to put it, I will hire piano movers and then get it tuned. My music theory classes were a looooong time ago, but I've wanted a piano for ages.

EDIT And I really must point out that *I* am not the one who actually moved the piano into our garage. No no, [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage (with one of our neighbors) did all the heavy lifting and moving.

SFDs! Here's the picture, and the details are written out and lurking behind the cut tag.

Huh. I look tired in that picture. Which might have something to do with the fact that I have felt very tired for the past couple of days.

  • Black ankle boots, laced with black ribbon.

  • Black tights, worn under black cotton stockings.

  • Knee-length skirt with ruffled hem, worn over pink petticoats.

  • Black Victorian x-ray lithograph waist cincher (by Louise Black Designs), laced with pink ribbon.

  • White faux-Victorian high-collar blouse with lace ruffles.

  • Black stretch velvet bolero with lace trim.

  • Jewelry: a choker of enormous pink glass pearls worn around the collar of the blouse, the usual giant silver rings, the usual antique mini pocket watch necklace, and pink glass pearl drop earrings.

  • Makeup: YSL Touche Eclat, translucent powder, MAC "Pink Opal" pigment on my lids with "Sketch" (a dark burgundy) very lightly blended into the crease. Black liquid eye liner on the top, MAC "Raven" pencil smudged with Aromaleigh's "gothic" powder on the bottom, DiorShow mascara, and NARS "Scarlet Empress" lipstick. Oh, and glasses, because once again the idea of putting in my contacts made me wince.

  • Hair worn down, no hat, no hair accessories. I'm not really sure why I'm in a phase of wearing my hair down at the moment.

I love the "cameo" style of corset that Louise Black Designs specializes in. (I just wish it didn't take SO LONG for her to make and ship things!)

I hope you're feeling better, hon.

I dont feel better. I acutally feel worse now.

but I did manage to turn that into focus on a drawing of my character for friday though. It is a quick sketch, but those are fun. :)

Much love for the corset. That is awesome. I love the bolero too, and they always look so nice and polished with a corset...or most clothing with a defined waist. I think I need more of them.

Did you make your necklace? I received some pink pearl beads a little while back (IIRC, they aren't quite as large as the ones you have, but still oversized). I didn't like the idea of making a giant pink pearl choker and running the risk of looking like Wilma, but the way you have it with the little black beads completely changes that and makes the pink stand out the way it's supposed to. Beautiful! :)

I did make my necklace. It's strung on that stretchy beading elastic, and has satin ribbons at the ends, so it's secured by tying a big bow. :)

I was afraid of it looking a bit like Wilma, but I think it turned out well. :)

(I hope you're feeling better!)

I have that corset on my wish list but was waiting until it might fit it's taken all my will not to buy one anyway. Losing weight, so I have to wait until that evens out. (covet) You look great in it.

I love that corset. And your glasses are fantastic.

I have to ask though, how long does it take you to ready in the morning? You look so well put together, always!

From finally dragging myself out of bed to walking out the door? About an hour and a half. But that includes breakfast and the very fiddly process of feeding the cats; Trinian Queen of Fuzwumpia is easily distracted, and has to be reminded that there is food in front of her every five minutes or so. (Left on her own, she would wander off, and then Tzepesh would scarf down everything.)

Thank goodness you finally got the cincher! You look fabulous.

Should they want their piano back, and you still are wanting one, we should talk. I have one I'm looking for a good home for.

And the outfit looks great--thanks for the pictures; I'm not very good at visualization of the sight-variety (ask me to "visualize-hear" a song, and it's like I've got headphones on! Smell, too, and touch to some extent. But sight?) So lovely pictures of you make me happy, as I can see as well as read, and make the connections.

It's hardly news, but I'm in awe of your put-togetheredness. I'd like to say I'll be inspired for my Thursday attire, but truth is if I'm up and not home at this hour I'll be lucky to remember to change out of night-things.

Lovely. I've never thought of wearing a chocker over a collar, but that looks great, I will have to try that.
I love seeing pictures. :)

Wearing a choker over a high-collared blouse is one of my standard wardrobe tricks. It makes everything look a smidge fancier. :)

you look fantastic. whatever you did w/ your hair or pose WORKS because this looks like one of the best photos you've ever taken. you need to do THAT FACE/POSE more! and the corset looks absolutely perfect.

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Hee! Thank you, oh photo coach! (Part of the reason I've been trying to get photos taken of my everyday outfits is so I can practice The Correct Pose. ::grin::)

I *adore* that corset and bolero, OMG . . . *clothing-lust!*

You look fabulous as always, m'dear, but this outfit is ESPECIALLY awesome :D

And congrats on the piano! ;>

The outfit is, as ever, gorgeous, but I really love the glasses and hair down look. Very pretty, love.

Oh My!! I'm especially fond of this outfit. Especially the corset. How clever is that? I am going to have to look at some of her other corset designs. That really is magnificent. As always, you look absolutely picture perfect gorgeous, but then I can't remember a time when you haven't. I wish I had the energy, motivation and will power to accomplish such a feat. Kudos to you dear lady. :-)

I know you have been losing weight, but you may have gone to far, you seem to be all skin and bones.

From: [identity profile] euterpe35.livejournal.com

wow! such a wonderful cincher. Love that.

I don't think you look tired.

From: [identity profile] theblackdeer.livejournal.com

Ok I have to ask - how long does it take you to get ready for work every day?

And what do you wear when you're not feeling well - you know, those days when you'd really like to wear your pajamas to work?

Inquiring minds wanna know

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Not including breakfast and the rigamarole of feeding the cats, it takes me about 45 minutes to an hour to made up and dressed.

Most of the time, if I'm not feeling well, the ritual of makeup and favorite clothes makes me feel better. If, like today, I'm really feeling unwell, I stay home. If I'm not well enough to present myself in the way that makes me happy, I'm not well enough to leave the house.

From: [identity profile] zmayhem.livejournal.com

SUCH an amazing corset, and such a terrific outfit altogether, and no matter how tired you are you look utterly smashing. Your SFDs make my day, every day -- I still can't believe nobody has yet offered to pay you for just being you. Fuck this day-job wringer that is slowly squeezing you dry. Your SFDs are absolutely making the world a better place, and you well deserve to be compensated for all your efforts.

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Oh my goodness, I hope The Powers That Be listen to your idea. I would dearly love to be paid to be a well-dressed eccentric.

From: [identity profile] domestinatrix.livejournal.com

Hey, lookit that! The waist cincher did finally show up!

This might be a really super extra dumb question, but do you play piano currently or is it something you're looking at learning? What kind of piano is it? The secret real question here is of course "is this a piano with space for me to lay under and someone to play it?"

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Yes, the cincher FINALLY showed up. I'm delighted with it, but still miffed about how long it took to get to me.

I don't play piano currently; in college I played it just well enough to survive my music theory classes. So I would have to get a book or something, but that's fine. I've wanted to take piano back up again for ages.

The piano does not have space for you to lay under it while someone plays it; it's an upright one.

I love the corset! I like the lithograph detail on it, you don't realize exactly what the picture is of at first glance. It kind of sneaks up on you.
