So yesterday, the car wouldn't start.

[insert freaking out here]

[livejournal.com profile] weaselmom's boy came over, and after some fiddling and a jump start, brought the car back to life. (One of the battery cables was loose, so the battery wasn't retaining a charge. Or something like that. I'm a touch vague on the mechanical details, go figure.)

Guess what happened this morning?

[insert long, drawn-out sigh here]

Did you know that for the morning commute, it takes 2 buses and almost 2 hours to get from my house to the Evil Empire? I sure didn't.

[livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage is now dealing with the garage. There's even a chance we'll have the car back tonight. (Ohpleaseohpleaseohplease)

I'm trying to believe that this means today has to get better. Please tell me things that will convince me of that.

Uhm...

There's supposed to be large anti-war protests tonight, from 3 to 7pm. Buses are expected to be delayed in downtown Seattle. Just a heads up. So, spend some extra time at Alexia's tonight :)

Personally, I'm staying at work until 7 or so, then heading home. If I get to Everett by 10, I'll be happy.

It will get better. At the very least, you will get to go home and then it won't be Monday any more, but even before then, it will get better.

So say I.

Oy. What a hassle. May it be fixed speedily, permanently, and inexpensively. I can offer only one reason for why the day would get better, but it's a powerful one: the law of averages.

Oh, sweetie, I'm so sorry. I fired off a message to S to let him know, and he can call P if he needs more info. I'm with you: Cars are binary, and they're either working or they're not. I have no brain for the reasons why.

Depending on what time you were planning on leaving said Evil Empire this evening, i can probably offer you a ride. I need to stay a little later than i usually do today anyway because i got in kind of late this morning, plus i'm trying to squeeze in some extra hours before Friday so i can head down early for the Vampire Ball. If you want to aim for a bit after 7:00 to avoid the worst of the protest traffic, i can either bring you home or to SnB.

Oh, thank you for the kind offer! Is it okay if I let you know closer to going-home time?

From: [identity profile] domestinatrix.livejournal.com

Absolutely. Like i said, i expect to be here until 7 or to try to avoid traffic. If you could let me know by around then, that would be perfect.

The car is fixed!

(wild rejoicing)

So thank you for your offer of transport, but I won't need to take advantage of it.

It's one day closer to Saturday? I've been saying that over and over and over today.

Oh, fuck, Jilli! I just had to go through this. And I had to replace my fuel pump, even though my uncle initially thought it was just a loose battery cable.

I hope your car will get better posthaste. Today will get better because there have so many sucktacular occurrences in the past week that God's a few days past due on the balancing act.

ummm...

good news...

the stuff my nutritionist has me doing seems to be helping my general pain levels. Not a whole bunch just yet, but some.

and I am not a weepy as I was this morning, so that is an improvement.

*sigh* I am not so good at the cheering up today.

Oh... I am going to come see you on Friday after I get off work, that's good news. :) and I have STUFF even.

remember

You live within walking/stumbling/bustling distance of three of the best Happy Hours in the Greater Seattle Area.

Really, nothing says happy like a full drink, or a full table of empty glasses.

Wheel it down the street. Torch it. Blame it on the Anti-war protesters and then presto, new car! :D

My mother used to name her car and talk to it, and she hardly ever had problems with it. Also speaks to her plants and they grow like you wouldn't believe. Not that I'm supersitious (I often think she's kinda crazy) but her little Honda has never given her trouble. Maybe your car needs some kind words?

Maybe this insane comment brought a smile to your face. Hope things get better

The Seattle transit system sucks. No wonder people are forced to drive. That's why the traffic sucks. I was so grumpy when I lived there just from driving. If Mr Gates is creating jobs and traffic, why doesn't he get a lightrail installed to campus? I hope your week gets better.
