Posting madness is also known as "I just remembered this question I wanted to ask the hive mind of the interwebs".

eBay is still the best place to sell comic-related collectible thingies, right? Doing a direct sale via LJ wouldn't get me as wide of a response?

The reason I ask is that I have an extra copy of the 1995 Vertigo Tarot Deck in almost mint condition. "Almost", because there is a small puncture in the front of the big white presentation box, which is from a bat-festooned candelabra falling on it during the 2001 Nisqually earthquake.

(Yes, I'm serious. Vertigo tarot deck. Bat-festooned candelabra. Earthquake. Look, I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried.)

Anyway, I want to sell it, because I don't really need an spare copy, and extra spending money would be particularly helpful. Is eBay still my best bet?

I think Ebay will definetly get the most exposure for your item. If you list it and don't feel the price is going high enough you can always pull the listing.

Yes, eBay can be good for that.

Or you could name your price and I'll chew on it for a day or two. ;-)

Oh what a beautiful deck! Ebay is probably a larger audience and probably more likely to get you want the deck is worth I'm thinking...

What a pretty deck. A quick perusal found one deck for sale on line at $200.00. On Amazon there are 7 decks for sale starting at $145.00. There is another on ebay right now listed for $100.00. Ebay is such a fickle friend. A search of closed auctions might give you a better idea of what recent decks have sold for on ebay. You could try listing it on Amazon for $140.00 and see if anyone bites.

I don't know, but I do know you *have* to write up the whole backstory. That has to be good for an extra Benjamin.

Not that you know me, but if you give me a price, you might not need Ebay. I mean, it'd Vertigo. And a tarot deck. Who wouldn't want that?

Also, hi.

Er, hello there! (Because I'm wildly curious, how did you stumble across me? I always like playing connect-the-dots.)

If [livejournal.com profile] princekermit passes on the deck, I very well might name a price in your direction. :)

[waves]

Didn't I introduce myself when I first found your journal? Oh, man. I hope my manners aren't slipping that much.

[livejournal.com profile] starkeymonster pointed me in your general direction one day when we were talking fashion and manners and such. I added you and thought I commented on some post about a velvet jacket that you modded with pink buttons. If I did not, er, hi!

And, yes. I saw after I commented that someone had already spoken for the deck, but thank you for keeping me in the possible queue.

Ah-ha! Looking back at that post, you did indeed introduce yourself! (I just have a terrible memory, apparently.) So hello there, and welcome!

[livejournal.com profile] princekermit decided to pass on the Vertigo tarot. If you're interested, drop me a line at headmistress (at) gothic-charm-school (dot) com.

If I told people this happened to my Perky Goth friend's Tarot deck, they would laugh me out of the room for pulling their leg.

I sold several Tarot decks on line a while back and got surprisingly good prices for them. I think Tarot is a very busy market.
