It dawned on me that I hadn't indulged in posting Shallow Fashion Details in a while. Since I'm wearing one of my new favorite outfits, today seems as good a time as any.

  • Black knee-high lace-up Victorian-esque boots.

  • Black wool tights

  • Black not-quite knee-length ruffled skirt with a bustle-effect back, worn over a knee-length black silk ruffled skirt over a pink knee-length petticoat.

  • Pink high-collared ruffly blouse.

  • Black cotton velvet hip length Victorian-esque jacket with a slight peplum to the back. The jacket closes with 6 large pink taffeta-covered buttons (4 of the same style buttons on each cuff), and has a matching pink taffeta heart, with a black satin bat in the center, sewn on the left arm.

  • Hair pulled back into a high ponytail, held in place with frothy black lace hairties.

  • The ususal sort of makeup: a light dusting of Aromaleigh mineral foundation, white eyeshadow with MAC "Passionate" (a shocking pink/fuchsia color) in the crease, black liquid liner, mascara, and NARS Chandernagor lipstick.

  • The usual rings, and my rhinestone bracelet that says Perkygoth.

I am very pleased with this jacket. It's this jacket from Newport News (clicky link!), which is a great basic gothy jacket. How great? Let me put it this way: I own three of them. Yes, all black. There's the one that I left as-is; the one that I changed by swapping all the buttons for giant silver ones; and then the one I'm currently wearing, which involved making covered buttons and the heart-with-bat patch. Not to mention the standard alterations I did to all three jackets to make them fit better: taking the waist in a bit, sewing down the peplum folds so they don't stick up oddly, and adding weights (buttons or chain) to the hem so it lies smoothly. That may *sound* like a lot of work, but the difference those changes make to the fit are amazing. And like I said, this is a great basic gothy jacket to begin with. In fact, the next time Newport News has one of their site-wide sales, I just might pick up a fourth. I just need to decide how I want to customize it ...

if you do see them doing a sitewide sale, please let me know.

Newport News has become my new favorite site for drooling all over. :)

I thought about posting my own SFD today, then I started to have Doubts(tm) about how cute I look. I am not sure if I look cute or more like I am wearing the traditional dress of some eastern european country that just got it's own name back (you know, like Estonia).

Post the SFDs! Post them now!

(And I'm sure you look cute.)

Again I bemoan my inability to see your outfit.

I have pinning to do. Must get sitter for S&B. Or maybe not: Nibs has been extremely low on energy and has the Bomb scheduled in a couple of weeks.

Chandernagor is such a wonderful name I had to go search for it online. It does look lovely.

Now I've discovered Chica Boom (http://www.narscosmetics.com/acb/stores/1/Lip-Lacquer-C13_category_7.aspx). Perhaps that will be the sheer purple of my dreams...

it's things like these that make me want to play dress-up again:

I NEED a wardrobe makeover!

I wish you worked nearer my building, I'd pop over and snap a picture to post! :)

Thank you for your links to Newport News--I now own this (including the shirt): http://www.newport-news.com/shop/popup_lgview.aspx?ifn=5F2931A.jpg&effort=9G&style_id=21002046

It's so warm and comfy and stylish I want to wear it every day. But it must take turns with my brown, silk-velvet blazer.

I'm thinking tomorrow I'm going to dress up more like you--because I can wear that dress I got from you. Hee, it brings me joy and glee to wear it.

Just dropping by.

To thank you first off for adding me- I have (had?) a welcome post for you, so you'll know how pleased I am.
I remember you posted about mini hats, and I'm commenting under this fashion post because I though you might like to see this: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=125773519

Full disclosure- this is a friend of mine, who I've occasionally sold with at our local club. I don't get anything for promoting her, except the good feeling of pretty things shared. Plus I think she's very reasonable in her pricing, and that might be an alternative for you to the (admittedly gorgeous) higher priced lovelies you posted.

OK, that was long winded.
*scurries off to lurk in LJ land once again*

Hi. You don't know me from a hole in the ground, but starkeymonster directed me your way, and I just wanted to say that I think you're nifty.
