... because sleep deprivation and trying to deal with multiple work emergencies always lead to random wittering. You shouldn't be surprised by this.

I'm suffering purse discontent. I just switched purses yesterday afternoon, but suspect I picked the wrong purse from my collection to switch to. I will never, ever learn to remember (when I am in the middle of switching purses) that yes, I really DO need to use a purse with a shoulder strap. No matter how cute my various box-type purses without shoulder straps are.

I want a new coffin purse. I love my OldeSkoole black metal coffin purse (lined in pink taffeta, no less!), but it's a fraction too big. Being a fraction too big means that I am constantly tempted to stuff extra things in it, and that is bad. While I kinda-sorta like this one, I don't know if it would be big enough for what I need. And I keep waffling back-and-forth about the Demonia coffin purse; it's about the right size, but ... every goth girl has one. (Yes, this is where you all may shake your heads and sigh over my elitist purse snobbery. I won't mind.)

The coffin purse I *really* want is the Alchemy Gothic Bone Casket Handbag, even if it does make [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage roll his eyes a lot. I just haven't been able to bring myself to spend the money on it.

What I really need is for a talented someone to custom-make me a new coffin purse, exactly to my specifications. I just don't know who the talented someone I should be talking to might be.

hee I love that you're posting about purses just as I'm posting about shoes and cute tops.

I feel like I should start posting about the wonders of Smashing Blend Photo Finish just to round things out or something.

(Though, seriously, it's how I've fooled myself into thinking I'm awake for the last week.)

Speaking of purses, have you seen Bag Borrow or Steal (https://www.bagborroworsteal.com/webclient/getPage.aspx?page=welcome&) ?

1) The Demonia bag is cheaper than the one I got at Archie's. That'll teach me to Google.
2) I seem to have bent the clasp on mine from shoving too much into it. Wah.
3) If you're interested in mine, I'd happily swap you with some consideration. To tell you the truth, though, I don't think it's even as good as the Demonia bag.

What would the perfect mythic coffin purse be made of? and how would it look, and how big would it be? and what would be in it? and how would it be trimmed? and from what would it hang off your shoulder? In case someone thought she could come up with something.

Hmmm. I'll have to measure the pink & black coffin at home and get back to you. :)

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

So after measuring my black & pink coffin, I have determined that the Perfect Coffin Purse would be:

9" long
6" across at its widest point(with the bottom edge of the coffin shape being 3" wide)
6" deep

How it would look? Probably the same shape as one of the Demonia or Pleaser coffin purses (http://cgi.ebay.com/Goth-Black-Leather-Velvet-Coffin-Purse-Gothic-AGF-NWT_W0QQitemZ190015699532QQihZ009QQcategoryZ63852QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem), but with not as much padding. (Which is part of the reason I'm so fond of my Olde Skoole one - it's made from lightweight metal, so it doesn't have that faintly squashy shape.) I have no idea what it would be made from - a sturdy, lightweight plastic that was covered with fabric or finished with glossy paint?

It would hang from my shoulder by a shoulder strap that attached by D-rings along the two long sides of it. I don't have a strong preference for which side it would open along.

If you want more blathering from me about what the Perfect Coffin Purse would be like, just e-mail me. I'll witter on for ages about this sort of thing.

Oooh...I am so in love with Alchemy's wares. Although some of it is sorta tacky, I'm of the mind that it's whatever you tend to like best. ^_^

I love the Alchemy bone casket bag, of course, and if it's what you want, go forth. Let it never be said I would do anything other than get exactly what I want. :) Over the weekend, actually, Jay and I picked up two black canvas ammo bags from our nearest surplus store, and they're exactly what we wanted -- man-purses, essentially, but very cute, with a nice fit close to the body, and just enough room -- plus space for Bauhaus (me) or Skinny Puppy (him) patches on the outside. Tacky? Yes! But cute.

I'm back in "I need a new purse"-land, too. I've been using my current bag for eight months! Time for a change.

Since I'm in "need" of a new purse and I agree shoulder bags are the way to go, do you have any non coffin shaped purses you long for?
