Bad: the weather. (It's my journal and I'll whine about it if I want, thankyouverymuch.) When the temperature goes above 80, I get very, very cranky. Beyond cranky, actually. Seething and wanting to snarl at everyone and everything is more than cranky, right? Thank goodness the office is air-conditioned.

Bad: the work deadline. 102 topics assigned to me for their first edit pass. Oh, and the server that all our content lives on (and all the editing tools call) is being difficult.

Bad: there is a particular bit of e-mail I'm waiting for, and it's making me twitchy. ::pokes mail server again::

Good: the new sleep meds my doctor is having me try are The Best Things Ever, and I feel better-rested than I have in months.

Good: I have officially lost 30lbs. The scale has said 170.6 for 3 days now. Yaaaay!

  • Black satin ballet flats

  • Knee-length pink cotton bloomers with black lace trim

  • Pink organdy petticoat

  • Knee-length black skirt with three rows of ruffles at the hem

  • Black cotton frock coat

  • Pink & black choker with a locket (that holds a photo of Dread Beast)

  • Hair pulled up under my usual top hat (now with added pink ribbons and feathers, and a pink silk rose on the back)

  • Wrist-length black lace gloves; the only rings I'm wearing are my wedding & engagement rings (when the weather gets this hot, I can't wear all my rings)

  • Make-up: a light dusting of Alima mineral foundation (over SPF60), pale shimmery white eyeshadow with deep pink in the crease, black liquid liner & mascara, and NARS liquid-to-matte lipcolor in Chandernagor (which is pretty much the color of Bing cherries)

Okay, back to slogging through the editing ...

But what I really want to know is this: Which SPF60 are you wearing? Sensitive Burning Man attendees want to know. :)

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Heh. Sunblock that comes from Canada (http://cgi.ebay.com/SPF-60-LOREAL-OMBRELLE-sunscreen-Canada-120-ml_W0QQitemZ330010062022QQihZ014QQcategoryZ31774QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem), because almost all sunblocks available in the US aren't photo-stable (http://abcnews.go.com/2020/Health/story?id=858453&page=1).

Did you see that the FDA approved Mexoryl today? (http://abcnews.go.com/Health/story?id=2229315&page=1)

Hooray! No more asking sysops to bring me tubes from Europe!

*gasp!*

Okay, now where to buy it ASAP... I've got a trip to the desert to stock up for!

because almost all sunblocks available in the US aren't photo-stable.

WTF? What the hell's the point of a sunblock that isn't photostable - the phrase 'as useful as a chocolate teapot' springs to mind

Yay weight loss! You are now officially lighter than I am.

If you want to feel better about the weather, remember that you're not in [livejournal.com profile] oracle2c's pasture. Now that I think about it, everyone out there was from either Arizona, Texas, or Florida.

I'm so happy for you that you are sleeping and the weight loss! The combo has to feel SO good. :0 )

I hear you on the weather. I pinned some fool's ears back at $BUX this morning (a customer, not a barrista)--today I am a thing of fangs and scales and claws.

That is truly fantastic about the 30 lbs. You are a very good inspiration.

Listen, if anybody has any of the Magic Sleep Pills left over, they should not forget their poor, old, sleep-deprived Weaselmom. I simply mention.

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

That's right, your doctor is the crazy one who doesn't want to prescribe anything to help you sleep? Or am I mis-remembering?

From: [identity profile] weaselmom.livejournal.com

Well, she certainly doesn't want me to have very much of it on hand. I get very grudging refills.

I am jealous of hte weight and the sleep

You go grrl!
You look so bute and thin!
Sleep is such a good thing. It will totally change your life.
I am back to not sleeping (bleh) and I am spending more time on the computer in the wee smalls. I am supposed to get up when I wake up and 'try to reest my inner clock' bleh. I am seeing the lovely sunrises....

I bow to the cuteness that is you and pink.
HUGS!
Thea
(My doctor told me to go to Canada for SPF - but to get there, I would have to go out into the sun. Hmmm the paradox defeats me)

Congratulations on the weight loss! I hope your e-mail arrives soon. Temperatures over 80 make me snarly too.

From: [identity profile] susanw.livejournal.com

I've been whining about the weather, too. I think we're entitled. It's not just above 80, it's *far* above 80 for four days in a row now! My house is a sauna, and I'm here trying to pack for my trip to RWA National today. Ugh.

Glad the sleep meds and weight loss are working so well. I've been sleeping well this weekend despite the heat, which leads me to think my own sleep problems are 90% work stress, if all it takes to make me sleep easily and restfully is the prospect of a week off...

From: [identity profile] ozitonaranjo.livejournal.com

Congrats on the weight loss! I'm glad you are finally getting a good night's rest.

I also totally agree on the heat. Friday was rough but the weekend was worse. Nothing like being stuck at home with a hyper toddler in the horrible heat when it is too hot to move.

Congrats on the 30lbs! That is really awesome! Do you have a goal weight or are you just losing until you feel comfortable?

This weather is trying to kill me. Seriously, I am so miserable.

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

I have 20 more pounds to lose before hitting my goal weight. :)

I can't even imagine what the weather is doing to you; I know that I'm miserable, and I deal with it a smidge better than you. (Which is completely an understatement!)

Oh! I have a pink & black top for you, that came with a skirt I won from eBay! Are you going to be out on Wed.?

From: [identity profile] girlgoth.livejournal.com

Oooh! :D

I am planning to be out on Wednesday (unless the weather decides to stay like this), do you still want to do a monster exchange? email me at monstermaker @ girlgoth.com if you do! :)

This weather is making my weight seriously fluxuate too. I am so bloated, which is weird, cause all I've been doing is drinking liquids. ARGHHH!

From: [identity profile] ex-pennydrea364.livejournal.com

I *love* reading your shallow fashion details fellow pink n black girl ;)
Was your wedding all pink and back eg dress, cake, decor etc....?

From: [identity profile] savannarama.livejournal.com

I'm so happy for you on your successful weight loss--and the sleep! ... Did you know that sleeping will also affect your fitness efforts for the better? (I keep finding articles about sleep dep contributing to over-weight).
