• Work has been ... ugh. Last minute scrambling and panic and updates, all at the time that we're supposed to be working on our reviews. I've mentioned before that I hate writing self-evaluating reviews, haven't I? I'm pretty sure I have, so I'll spare you all the rant.

  • I went to the Vampire Ball in Portland last weekend, and it was wonderful. I'm still hoping that I'll have time to do a proper write-up of it, but the short version is that it was a fabulous event, I'm looking forward to next year's, and that [livejournal.com profile] cass404 is a darling.

  • We have new kitties! We brought them home on Tuesday, and they seem to be adapting pretty well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well when the two boys (Tzepesh and Ruthven) finally meet Trinian face-to-face. I think it will.

  • Shallow Fashion Question: I've been thinking about playing with hot rollers. Yes, I want to do something with my hair other than put it up in a bun, or have it be long and stick-straight. Do any of you have any brand recommendations, or tips on using them?

Okay, back to writing my review. Hopefully my head won't explode from stress.

Anyone who does needs immediate brain alteration. Mm, Maoism.

The borg review process is often particularily stupid and pointless, in my experience. People who don't have a problem with it are arrogant, or blind to their own stupidity, are incredibly political, or some combinatation.

Vampire Ball--another friend of mine went--I looked at pictures, and there you were in all your glory. You looked lovely!!!

And YAY for kitties!!!

I have both foam rollers and hot ones, and I prefer the foam ones. Set them the night before, wrap a bandanna around them (black lace, of course!), sleep on them (surprisingly comfortable) and poof! The curls last much longer and there's no worry about damaging your hair. The package I bought from Target has almost 50 rollers in it, with four sizes, from little pinkie to big toe width, and was $14.99, if I remember correctly.

I used all the teensy rollers to rather startling effect a few months ago: Poof! (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v465/Victoria_S/curls.jpg)

The curls were still there four days later, albeit in a much more relaxed form. Lately I've been using the larger rollers for softer waves.

there is nothing worse than writing your own review.

I have old-school hot rollers. . .

. . . but they're still really useful.

One question: how well does your hair take a curl? I can roll my hair up dry onto the hot rollers, take them out before they've even cooled, and still have to beat the curls down a lot. If you have trouble with getting a curl to take, though, they may be rather frustrating. In that case, curling your hair when it's damp with some kind of setting lotion might work better - that's how I had to do Kaja's hair for her wedding.
