And it's all [livejournal.com profile] marc17's fault. You see, he loaned me the CD by Kokusyoku Sumire. (Clicky link!)

He described them as a Gothic Lolita version of Rasputina. I would describe them thusly:

Imagine a theme park (like Disneyland), designed exclusively for Perkygoths.

Now imagine what the music playing on all the rides would sound like.

Now translate it all into Japanese.

... either you're immediately charmed by this notion, or (like [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage, you think this sounds crazy, and not in the fun way. Needless to say, I adore them. Plus, it's great music to listen to while editing, because there are no lyrics I understand to be distracted by.

You have NO idea how envious I am of [livejournal.com profile] marc17, because he got to see Kokusyoku Sumire perform at Tokyo Dark Castle. We need to figure out how to import them to Seattle for a concert.

I'll check it out as soon as I stop chairdancing to DJ Heather. No, not [livejournal.com profile] seelenschwester.

...and it's exactly as you describe. Not bad, but not really me, either.

CDs? Plural? Is there more than one? I SO need someone to translate the website for me and help me join the fan club/buy goodies.

I guess there must only be the one right now (http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/pid/7022143/a/Anderumeruhen+Kakyokusyu.htm)

There was another CD put out in 2004. The one store I went to, the music store in the 01Young store, did not have it. This CD has videos (apparently) which can be downloaded from the website.

I wonder if Kinokuniya's music department has it, or could special order it.

Glad you like them. As the last couple of people I played them for sort of went "meh." I was begining to think it was all in my head due to being hypnotised by pretty Japanese girls on stage.

I've also been wondering what it would take to get them over here to play.

Yep. Mind you, I'm not going to be able to come out to the club any time soon thanks to the deadline crunch, but that just means I'll send the CD along with Pete next week.

I'm having this image of "It's a Small World" sung in Japanese, by puppets wearing short black skirts, fishnets, platforms and cute little lace head thingies.

While it's a better image than the real Small World ride, but still chills me to the bone....
