A new musical obsession

And it's all marc17's fault. You see, he loaned me the CD by Kokusyoku Sumire. (Clicky link!)

He described them as a Gothic Lolita version of Rasputina. I would describe them thusly:

Imagine a theme park (like Disneyland), designed exclusively for Perkygoths.

Now imagine what the music playing on all the rides would sound like.

Now translate it all into Japanese.


... either you're immediately charmed by this notion, or (like stroppy_baggage, you think this sounds crazy, and not in the fun way. Needless to say, I adore them. Plus, it's great music to listen to while editing, because there are no lyrics I understand to be distracted by.

You have NO idea how envious I am of marc17, because he got to see Kokusyoku Sumire perform at Tokyo Dark Castle. We need to figure out how to import them to Seattle for a concert.

There was another CD put out in 2004. The one store I went to, the music store in the 01Young store, did not have it. This CD has videos (apparently) which can be downloaded from the website.

Glad you like them. As the last couple of people I played them for sort of went "meh." I was begining to think it was all in my head due to being hypnotised by pretty Japanese girls on stage.

I've also been wondering what it would take to get them over here to play.

I'm having this image of "It's a Small World" sung in Japanese, by puppets wearing short black skirts, fishnets, platforms and cute little lace head thingies.
